 Melnics Lesson
« Thread Started on Feb 19, 2007, 1:12pm »

Melnics (also known as Melonix in Eternia fansub) is a languange that was used by both Inferians and Celestians at one time. After separation, the Inferians created their own language, and Celestians continued to speak Melnics.
I'm here to teach you how to understand/translate/speak Melnics. It's quite simple, considering how it's completely based off of English.

First things first, the symbols (Made by Pictomancer Murasaki):
For each symbol, it has can translate to the corresponding letter. Even when Melnics sounds completely different from English, it's still written the same way. So type it exactly as English.

Next lesson, how to speak Melnics.
For each letter, it has it's own way to pronounce it.

Guide (Made by Pictomancer Murasaki):
Remember what Judas said in Tales of Fandom to Reid?
"Tuya muetun usu Judas. Djimutii waeruru Leon."
It basicly translates to "My name is Judas. Don't call Leon." Besides the fact that Judas still needs to work on his Melnics, it's still a perfect example to show how it works. "Waiiru!"

Now, last part is a writing system that wasn't used in the English version of Eternia for some odd reason. This system was given the name NALVOKS by the person who originally gave out these lessons.
Although you can't hear them speak it, it's written with the Melnics text.
For example, even when you hear Meredy saying her name, on the text box it is written as "NALR".

Guide (Made by Pictomancer Murasaki):

This is commonly used for proper names. So let's say I were to put in my name, Ben. I would type it as BAE (boring...).

Okay, so my descriptions aren't that good, but if you have any questions, I'm sure I'll be able to answer them.

My parents can't stand Melnics anymore. Mainly because one character in my fan game speaks Melnics, and I voice him.

I'm still getting Melnics down. I have most of the sounds memorized, but I'm still trying to remember the rest of them.
Pictomancer Murasaki was the one who originally made the charts, if I remember right... Yup, she was. She gave the lesson on her LiveJournal, as well as on the official Tales forum.

BTW, is there a downloadable font for Melnics? I mean, there's one for the Fonic Alphabet, so is there one for Melnics?

...NALVOKS... Would that be written in the melnics alphabet, or in latin characters? Klosu, eh? That, or Folu, ha ha...

Ick, though, this is the kind of thing I'd have to go over slowly, bit by bit (Like when I was taught hiragana and katakana, and unlike me just skimming over it right now, ha ha.), to get everything down right. But, basically, it's english run through the pronunciations of the Melnics characters?

Woah... thnks for this.
Now I can learn Melnics! :D

My name in Melnics is: LUSOA

So, saying "Hello, my name is Lusoa" would be...
"Anrurui tsuya muetsun usu Lusoa"

...right?

-_-
