I just have. For anyone to see what I mean, try to even pass Cult of Personality on Expert in Guitar Hero 3. I have tried and tried again, and I can't get any further. And if I were to keep going, I may get it done by the time GH 4 launches. Anyone else here just plain givin up on a game? I say no shame there.

I totally gave up on Soul Calibur III at one point. >>; I couldn't beat this one stage and told myself, "Screw this," and dropped the controller, turned off the game, and left.
On another note, I think I semi-gave up ToI. There's one dungeon I never. Ever. Ever fail to die in, and it simpy irritated me, as I had to trek there out of another ghey dungeon that I hate and that I gained like 3 levels and lost them by dying. I find leveling in ToI to be just one pain in the ass, and after a while, I just stopped. XD; I plan to play again once I beat ToR, Ar Tonelico, and ToL... if I don't have anything to play by then.
BUT TOI IS STILL AN AWESOME GAME. JUST LETTIN' Y'ALL KNOW SO I DON'T MAKE TOI LOOK BAD LOL.

Maybe.... Tales of Destiny 2.
I did beat Barbatos, but the boss right after that was a pain, too. I made it to the last dungeon, and just... stopped. Guess that's more along the lines of quitting than admitting defeat, but still, the game got on my nerves too much to even bother finishing.

I usually don't try to do the impossible in games...so I guess I accomplish everything I set out to do (eventually, I don't give up, I just sorta leave sometimes ), but there is one thing....Spectrobes. I just couldn't take it, I don't know, but I just couldn't finish that game. It was kinda hard, but the whole style just made me want to play something else

When it comes to certain action, adventure, strategy and simulation games where one part is near impossible to beat, I usually don't take too long before I move on to another part or another game As for fighting games, I never give up! I may have had 50 continues but I will eventually defeat that ultra unfair and cheap boss! It's also a great way to improve skillz when it comes to fighting games!

For me, I give up and come back months later.
Final Fantasy X was a prime example of that. I quit for about a month when I couldn't beat Evrae for the first time, and when I finally did and had to battle Seymour on Mt. Gagazet....I said screw it and turned off the console. Didn't pick up that game for almost 2 years, then I kicked his arse. >:3
Hmm. Another one would be the Lion King for the SNES. I got SO frustrated when I was little that I couldn't get past the Hakuna Matata stage, that I never picked it up again. When I was 15, I picked it up again and beat it with ease. XD It's still one of my favorite SNES games.
There were a few more instances like that, but I guess it's more of 'building better skills over time' than 'giving up'. XD

I never give up! If I get stuck, I cool my heels for a while with something else, and play a different game for a while. I'm doing that right now with Etrian Odyssey (ETREAAAANT!), and playing La-MuLana instead. And that game will crush me utterly. Repeatedly.
Soul Calibur III is hard, but not impossible. It took me forever to beat Amy in Tales of Souls, though >_>;. It's a fighting game that doesn't pull punches, especially in the Prepare to Defend Yourself matches.
I seem to always be playing ridiculously hard games. I got stuck on Nine Ball in Armored Core: Nexus, so I put it down for a few weeks, and then, when I went to show my friend how ridiculous he was... I beat him on my first try without really trying to win :'D. And then Last Raven's Raven battles beat me up over and over...
I don't accept defeat! No matter what it is, there has to be a path to victory somewhere! Even if you have to call upon the Ouendan to find it.
...Unless the game is just -broken-, but that's a different story.

oh yea there are several games where I just said: "It's not impossible, I just can't do it" and walk away. Long ago I would say "This is impossible there is absolutely no way to do this" heck I said that a few times with doungens in Symphonia 2 but I just told myself "it's not impossible, your just not thinking correctly" and I eventually beat it. Or I just stop playing the game alltogether, and come back a year later and realise it was easier than I thought

Yeah, a few times, but usually due to my own fault with leveling up. Fire Emblem for the GBA (first one) was one. I had a poor strategy when it came to evolving to the next class and was also afraid of my main characters dying (dunno why, since I could always restart the game and do the level over) so I never made them fight anything. Then came the final battle, and I was pwnt. Never did end up beating the stupid dragon in the end.
Or Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. The game itself was a piece of cake, but I couldn't and cannot beat the final boss for some reason. It's been 7 years now and I still can't beat it. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I never will, but out of all my experiences with video games, that is the number one thing that will gnaw at me.
Another one was Xenosaga I... ran away from enemies constantly and then when I got to the boss of Cathedral Ship, the boss wiped the floor with me. After trying over and over numerous times, I finally just gave up. Then I returned to the game 2 years later, started everything over and leveled up correctly this time, and beat the boss. Then I lost interest in the game shortly after. The agonizingly slow and boring battle system was enough to drive a person insane.
I've also come to the sad conclusion that I will never beat the 3 pigs boss on Super Mario Land: Legend of the Six Golden Coins 2. I suck at early Mario games so much :'(

I always give up. Most of my gaming experience consists of that. Seriously. I'm such a failure guy-o. D'=

I gave up on beating the final boss in FF3. If I want to see the ending I'll just look it up on youtube. XD

I gave up on Ephemeral Fantasia not because it was hard, but because it was boring....That is the only game I ever did that with.

Dark Cloud 2. I never beat it. No idea why, but I just didn't. I used to love it, but then I stopped playing, and I've never picked it up again. ;;

I never admit defeat on a game unless it's either too scary for me or I don't have enough time to access it.
Resident Evil 4 and Quake II fit in this category.

Star Ocean 3
The sad thing is, I was only seven or so hours in. The dungeons were just too annoying, I couldn't get past them! ><
