Before you guys say anything, yes, I know I'm WAAAAY late, but I wasn't even aware of the Tales series till I played Symphonia. Anyway, my bro Kenta got Tales of Phantasia. Wanna say what I think of the game... - Voice acting. You guys were right. It SUCKS. D: They REALLY could have done better than that~...
- Gameplay. Even though I just started, I like it (Kenta had to pry the game away from me. XD), and like always, got lost. ^^; The battles remind me of Final Fantasy. XD
- Graphics. I managed to look past the voice acting, and I find the sprites to be very very cute. X3 Especially the the win poses. Too cute! ^w^
- Common Sense. I lost it anytime I go into a fight. I keep forgetting to use gels, and my poor lil Cless died. D:
He really was cute as a lil angel... *indignation'd* D:
And... That's about it. ^^; Still trying to get used to the controls.... XD (I can't even use MAJINKEN! DX)

The GBA version is the only version of ToP that got localized, so might as well enjoy it, despite the voice acting. INDIGNAYSHUN!

Voice Acting is great, but it doesn't beat the original Resident Evil.
B:Barry J:Jill
B: Jill! What's going on? any clues? J: No. But SOMETHING's wrong with this house B: Whooooah. This hall is DANGEROUS. Maybe it's better to secure our escape route first. There MUST be a backdoor SOMEWHERE. Let's try to find IT first, shall we? J: Ok. Let's separate again. B: Just a moment! I found something. J: What is it? B: It's a WEAPON. It's REALLY powerful. Especially against living things. Better take it with you. J: But how about you Barry? B: I have THIS. J: Thank you. I'll take this then.

I recommend you stop where you are and play the PSX version. Infinitely better. And it was translated!

;-; I cannot do that, Hiro-san. Because, I don't exactly know what a PSX is... and, the game's too addicting. ^^;

I recommend you stop where you are and play the PSX version. Infinitely better. And it was translated! Only thing is that you need a modded PS or an emulator and both are illegal. Take chances as usually they don't find out. Just be careful of Virus' etc.

The GBA version is still good. If you don't mind the voice acting and lack of skits.

Whether the GBA version was good or not isn't the point, it's that the PSX version is infinitely better. (Well, it is!) As for the whole legal dispute thing, uhh.... Well, get the PSX version if you can. You can't go wrong.

I could send you the file for ToP and the patch for it, you would have to mod your PSP though, and I can't help you there.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with the GBA version. At the moment that's the only version I can get my hands on so it's most likely the version I'll choose. Is it really that bad?

I guess it's not bad, it's just worse than the other versions. Most people who have played the PSX version of Tales of Phantasia would agree that the PSX version is the best version, I believe. If you take the effort to get the PSX version up and running, it's really worth it.

Yeah but what sucks about it? Do I not get any cutscenes? Are the sprites less detailed? I figure that for $8 USD it's worth to get for the GBA especially if the game hasn't been abridged.

You don't get skits in GBA or anime cutscenes. SoI guess thats kinda like missing cutscenes
