Harvey Mudd? I considered that school, but not after I saw their math SAT scores. I clean the SATs' clock when it comes to verbal and writing, but unfortunately the same doesn't hold true with the math You must be awesome at math. I envy you. What's wrong with Riverside?

I'm currently an English major at Alma College. It's not as fun as it could be right now since I commute, but winter term I should be in a dorm.

Ha, I'm not too good at math... I don't think so anyway, but I guess I can hold my own in calc. 690 and 680 are pretty shaky SAT scores, so I don't know if I'll get in. Worth a shot though. Nothing's wrong with Riverside, just a little too low standard for me, I guess. That and its located in the middle of a ghetto.

SAT is only if you want to enroll in a four year college immediately instead of going to a community college than transferring (and it's so much cheaper if you start off there first though IMO). It's fun and great but just remember that tuition goes up 5% each year (at least where I live). I wish I had more time to join all the fun stuff like clubs. I'm currently enrolled at a two year college (I was going to a private art college but it got too expensive) and am loving it!

^ One of the majors I was considering. If you have the money, USC is good. If not, Cal state San Jose is in silicon valley. Good education and immediate job opportunities

Finally stopped procrastinating on my essays, though I still have 3-4 more supplemental essays to write on top of a billion short responses. SAT scores are high enough that I don't have to worry about it being a problem for most schools and my GPA/class rank put me in the clear. SAT Subject Test scores are...accpetable too. Looking back, I suppose another extracurricular activity would've helped.
Applying to: - University of Pennsylvania - Penn State University - University of Pittsburgh - Carnegie Mellon - Drexel University - Lehigh University - Virginia Tech - RIT - Stanford University
Three guesses as to which state I'm in. >_>;;
Drexel is my safety-net school since I can get in A-Ok with my grades and connections will probably get me at sizeable chunk covered for my tuition. University of Pittsburgh is the current forerunner though, since I loved the campus and I can be a cheapo and take courses at Carnegie Mellon while paying half the price. UPenn and Stanford are my "no way in hell am I getting in but I'm still trying" schools.

My dad made me apply to Penn. I MIGHT have gotten in if I'd gone through all the crap they want you to do to get in, but I really didn't want to go there.

Well, I'm a ninth grader like Cleo, but I took the SAT in November, so this is the list of the four free colleges I chose to send my scores to:
University of Chicago Georgetown University Lewis and Clark College Bard College at Simon's Rock (A college that accepts students after 11th of 10th grade of high school. I might go if I get really bored of high school if funds allow me to.)
There are also a few other colleges I'm interested in like Bard College and University of Florida, but I'll send my scores to those when I take the SAT again. (This time was pretty much to qualify for summer school and to possible get high enough grades for Bard College at Simon's Rock.) For those of you who don't know, I have a split decision between Linguistics and International Relations; I don't know which I'm more interested in yet.

Ah, if you want to do linguistics, I would definitely recommend Georgetown out of all of those. It's supposed to have an absolutely fantastic language program.
Incidentally, how many languages do you take, para?

Cool! Someone is going into Linguistics too!? The college I'm looking into for that major requires only one language to study/learn. I can't decided among Japanese, French, or Korean! Though I've heard that for the Japanese class, the teacher doesn't speak in English at all, so how the heck are you going to know?! I'm better off just watching subbed anime all day if it's like that then.

I take both Spanish and Latin. One kid said I'm taking the easy way because Foreign Languages aren't considered core classes, even though we go really fast in Latin. I'm considering taking Anthropology or Ancient Greek during the summer from some sort of Talent Identification Program. I know you're taking Latin also, but have you taken any other foreign languages? (I've honestly forgotten if you've mentioned this.)
I definitely consider Georgetown my top choice because it offers both Linguistics and International Relations, and I honestly can't decide between the two yet. Lewis and Clark still seems like a good choice, though, since Georgetown is obviously difficult to be admitted to.
By the way, Pemdas, I don't think the teacher's speaking solely in Japanese will actually speed up the class or anything. My Spanish 2 teacher inundated us with that, and it at most caused confusion.
Edit: Fixed some bad grammar.
