I guess I can see the validity in that. I had to do geometry over the summer (my then-current school didn't offer geometry or any of the other traditional math courses because the administrators were retarded) and it was pretty tough. Worst part is, I remember about... none of it. Other than the SATs, ACTs, and the little bit of trigonometry we did at the end of pre-calculus last year, I've never seen it ever again.
Pretty decent test scores. I would definitely suggest trying your hand at tests again in 11th or 12th grade, since it would be ludicrous to say you wouldn't get better at those subjects in two or three years. Must be interesting to take them that young. I have to wonder how I'd score if I bothered to take them in freshman year.
Incidentally, you mentioned you thought you might skip senior year to apply to certain colleges. Ever given any thought to Pomona College? They offer that for gifted juniors.
I haven't even given a thought to applying for one, but... what exactly do you mean by winnable? As far as I know, there are scholarships available for just about anything. Hell, you could probably win one just on the basis of your GPA or SAT scores.

Honest question: How do you know so many things about colleges? (Like, for example, what Pomona offers.)
I'm mostly talking about private scholarships from companies, not the ones that a school might give you for being an underrepresented ethnicity or having a high GPA. Most scholarship searches I've checked are glutted with stuff that is no longer sponsored or doesn't apply to me. I've just never had the patience to look through these whole lists, thus I feel they are extremely difficult to win. I actually got zero matches from the collegeboard's scholarship search, and I don't want to both lessening my search criteria since that gives me a whole bunch of stuff that really doesn't apply to me. I guess I just don't consider private scholarships winnable because it's painful to do the searching.

I know it because I'm looking at colleges right now I was at Pomona on Tuesday, as a matter of fact. Its language program is fantastic, I found out, so I'm really hoping I can get in. It's pretty tough to get into, though... 16% acceptance rate. On what criteria are you hoping to get a scholarship, specifically?

Ah, I guess that makes sense. My high school actually organizes college visits during school hours, but only juniors and seniors can attend them. That's probably for the best, though.
I'm thinking rather narrowly, scholarship wise. I want to score in the 99th percentile or whatever it is on the PSAT to win one of the National Merit Scholarships (Actually, a quick look has shown that Pomona participates). Honestly, it seems like the only thing that matters for it is how well you're feeling on the day of the test, though. I bet my SAT scores are higher than my PSAT scores in all seriousness.
I'm also banking on getting some sort of merit aid because of my Hispanic ethnicity coupled with my strong school performance. I think working a job during college is a pretty interesting experience, though. To another end, how have you been with applying to all those schools? My senior brother has applied to only 5, and has already been accepted by his second choice, which uses rolling admissions.
Edit: Oh, yeah, have you ever thought of possibly using your youtube account as something to give you an edge in admissions. I heard once on a message board that someone was asked to show the college a significant piece of work outside of school, and that person used a blog. A rather complex math blog beyond regular high school expectations, no less. Not sure how you could verify that it's actually your account, though. Heck, maybe you can even find a scholarship that bases its award recipients on home-made videos. Maybe I'm speaking nonsense, though. Your videos are pretty awesome, though they are parodies, and therefore not based on your completely original work, though.

Good luck on the NMS, then. It'll be tough, but I'm sure you can do it. Haha, well, depending on where you go, it might be tough to hold a job at the same time. I'd say it'd be easier to go through the hassle of applying for scholarships and then getting a job during college if you feel like it (rather than out of necessity). Can't hurt to have a little spending money :'D Wellllllllll... I haven't applied anywhere yet, actually. I'm kind of in the process of doing that, but I've been putting it off because it's a hassle. Specifically, my high school transcript is a huge mess. I have extenuating life circumstances that really mar the first half of my high school career, so I have to explain all of that really succinctly. It's a real pain. Where did your brother get accepted, incidentally? Must be nice to have rolling admissions so you know right away. The waiting period between January and April is going to be hell~ I've thought about it, but I don't think videos defining f*ck would really endear the college admissions people to me I could always send in individual videos, I guess, but eh. Although, I have thought about sending in my lj rants, though more as a testament to my writing ability than anything else. But thank you for the compliments! Although it's a bit early for you, have you given any thought to something supplementary you might send in?

Bump.
If you had to choose between these two options concerning classes, what would you choose?:
1) Wake up at 6:45am to take English with an instructor you've heard good things about.
2) Wake up 9:45am to take English with an instructor you've heard nothing about.

2.
No way in hell I would get up that early, and the professor will probably be fine anyway. The jerk professor is the exception and not the norm.

Awesome, I was able to get the English class time that I wanted (only 2 seats left). In the end I went with the second option because even with an acclaimed professor, that's not going to change the fact that I still have to write essays (not to mention I would be sleep deprived while writing).
Thanks for the quick feedback!
