So I had this idea I was thinking about doing. "Tales Combos For Beginners" wherein it would be a video series doing exactly that, doing basic combos across each game that has a somewhat freeing combo system. I'd probably start with Xillia since it's the most recent. Would any of you be interested in contributing to this?

Here are the Guidelines I've come up with so far. If there's anything you think could be done better, isn't needed, or that should be added, lemme know.
1. Make sure the game's' BGM is muted when recording. Character Voices and Sound Effects are fine.
2. Remember that this is to help push Beginners along. Keep the combos somewhat simple to do.
3. Clips recorded will go thusly:
-The combo shown in full.
-A slowed down version played right after with commentary to break it down.
-Full combo shown again.
If you don't want to edit your combos this way, I can do it.
4. When sending me your stuff, make sure each combo is a separate clip, especially if you plan on covering multiple characters. This just makes it easier for me to edit the thing in general.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I really wish I could record but I just don't have the device.
Curious question though, do these combos have to be practical in normal game or does it just need to look cool and be simple to pull off?

Either or. Practicality would probably be better for beginning players though.

I don't suppose you're still looking for videos? I could get some Xillia 1/2 stuff recorded and edited (with commentary, if necessary) and send them your way, if you'd prefer to have them on your channel.

On the subject of this, a community combo video would be amazing.

It would, might be a bit of work to put something like that together though. a lot of feelings might get hurt too, once it came down to selecting the better/cooler combos for the video, people would get butthurt probably and the project could just turn into a mess.
... or perhaps I'm just a pessimist.

Maybe anyone who want to contribute have to swear not to get butthurt when their combo not chosen? Or you can put up a second video to show all the unused combo video?

I think that would be a great idea to bring some activity around here. I'm not sure if I can contribute anything since I can't record (other than if I manage to emulate some games properly) and I haven't really managed to do anything interesting in most of the games anyway. As far as I've seen, many of the active people here are already in the combo business so I can see people actually having content to share.

I could see how it could be a mess, but at the same time I think it could be quite amazing.
It's too bad Tales is console exclusive. Real easy to record PC nowadays.

I wish it could be that simple, but again, I could be overthinking this. I don't really want to believe the tales community is so sensitive.

Yo, there's practically zero chance of nobody getting upset if that happens. It would be cool just to see the video section get lit up though. I think the culture coming up on this board is pretty even-tempered, so those with the will to record and the desire for critique should bring their stuff here. Maybe people feel like the youtube comments section is kind of a dumb place to break down mechanics or whatever, so we could try having threads like "here's footage of me failing practice runs against boss x, let's talk about it." mite b cool
