Can we just talk about the godlike spell incantations though?
"Great king who supports the most distant of lands, receive this foolish offering that grovels at your feet! Ground Dasher!"

When you've got Cam Clarke on the mic, of course the incantations are gonna be top-notch. It's a shame Kratos didn't have high-tier spells.

I unfortunately couldn't bring myself to finish it. The random encounters drove me crazy, and I couldn't stand the characters. The story was pretty good, though, and the soundtrack is amazing. Probably the best soundtrack in any Tales game.

I've been thinking of trying this game through emulator for a few times, but I have always got turned off by the people who claim it has the worst battle system/worst characters etc. (which would be pretty bad). The things that appeal to me the most as someone who has not played the game are definitely the soundtrack and the graphics/art style. In general, Tales games tend to know the limits of the system and builds the aesthetics around them, resulting in a pretty much timeless graphics. I like the character designs and the game reminds me a lot of original Innocence (which happens to be one my favorites). I feel like I really should give the game a proper chance, it could turn out to be a hidden gem.

Everyone I know, including myself, who ended up giving it a chance fell in love with Legendia.

I got Legendia and Symphonia PS2 back in 2007, I enjoyed both a lot and, in my opinion, the only thing that Legendia lacked to be better than Symphonia was the lack of voice acting in the characters quests (I even missed Bubbles voice). It sure is a hidden gem. The battle system isn't that bad (+Senel's grabs are awesome) and the story, as well as the music, is gold.

I haven't finished it yet but since I'm so far into the game, I highly doubt my opinion will change much. The game is pretty good. I thought the random battles and the way you learn spells would get to me more than they did, but those two aspects of the game were relatively painless. Holy bottles took care of most of the random battles and I ended up getting most of the eres stones from playing through the game naturally. The battle system is decent; it is 2D but that isn't a bad thing.
The story is more unique than the other Tales games, especially once you get to the character quests. It's a shame that said character quests had next to no voice acting. The music is top notch, the best that you will hear in the series. Expect to hum to nearly every tune as you play along.
As far as I'm concerned, it is a good entry into the series and I'm glad I gave it a chance. There were a few annoyances here and there but they didn't stop me from enjoying myself.

Yeah, I was kinda bitter at the fact that the voice acting basically stopped after the main game. Anyways, its always good to see people taking a chance.
