I don't know if a lot of people actually played this game (or watched it through YT/Other video sites, that counts in a way), but if you have, what are your thoughts on it?
Was it as good as Destiny, or was it worse?
What did you think of the characters that were introduced and the characters returning from Destiny?
What did you think of the battle system?
What did you think of the plot and character development?
In my opinion, Destiny 2 was...meh. It could have been much better, but the story's very, very bare, little to no character development, an actual Mary Sue for a character, the battle system's heavily geared towards using magic over melee attacks, and Judas and the boss battles (with 2 exceptions) are easy to beat without upgrading your equips. The themes involved and the aesthetics are pretty good, and the character design is a fresh pace from Eternia and Destiny. The artes are completely original (except for a few of Judas' artes and some spells), complete with a extension forme of it by holding the arte button after certain artes. The OVL system for this game is decent, being the first time the concept was introduced, as it only builds from taking damage (I could be wrong, but check the Wiki just in case I am).

I never finished Destiny 1. I've started it plenty of times, but I always stop after a few hours.
I've played a fair bit of Destiny 2 (around 15 hours,) but the language barrier means I never really dove into the Refine system at all. Somehow stumbled my way through the Enchant system through trial and error, but I remain clueless. There's a completely translated script out there that I used to make my way through the story, but I kinda lost interest after a while.
I think the battles are pretty fun. I like the ability to speed up spellcasting by inputting directions on the D-pad, and the whole dividing of the battlefield into "your side" and the "enemy side" was kinda neat. My strategy settings are probably wonky as hell though, 'cause the AI rarely heals.
The graphics are pretty fantastic. I've got the PSP version, and it looks stunning. The character design is also nice.
It's honestly been so long that I barely remember anything about the characters, but I think I was okay with them. Maybe I'll go back and revisit it once my Japanese is more up to snuff.

I played through Destiny 2. Destiny 2 to me had the potential to be one of the best games of the series. It had a lot of unique ideas for the battle system like the spirit points system. You have a gauge that fills up when not attacking, but is reduced when attacking. To do more damage with physical attacks you have to wait for the SP gauge to fill up after attacking. It created a interesting dynamic of offense and defense in the combat. Aside from that, the game has a really great soundtrack. One of the best soundtracks of the series even. I don't know Japanese at all so I can't comment on the story completely, but I did watch a youtube let's play as I was playing the game where the guy had subs for the cutscenes. So I was able to understand the story that way. The story was okay overall. It got really contradictory with the time travel and whatnot. I personally didn't really care for the story a whole lot. Now it pains me to say Tales of Destiny 2 is the one tales game of the whole series not counting spinoffs that I did not like.
It is my least favorite Tales of game. Once you get to the second half of the game the balance of the combat is terrible. It isn't that the game becomes too hard, but physical attackers become useless. I had the best equipment at all points of the game and my physical attackers towards the end did like 80-150 damage per combo and couldn't even stagger bosses ever. Meanwhile, my spell casters would do 2000+ easily and completely stagger bosses. Even when bosses were staggered, I was lucky to have my physical attackers do 200+ with a combo. Needless to say, it's the most one sided battle system of the entire series and it's a shame that physical attackers are so bad in the second half of the game. Boss fights in the second half of the game consist of your physical attack characters running up to the boss guarding since they can't do damage or stagger the boss while your mages spam spells.
