For this thread, I will be posting my thoughts about the game as I play through it for the first time. So far, I'm really liking the game. The music is definitely the best part of it. I often find myself stopping everything that I'm doing in the game to listen to the tracks.
The battle system didn't take long to get used to given my experience with other Tales games. One of the things that I liked about it was that I could get a few very cheap arcane eres really early on, allowing for some decent combo potential much sooner than other Tales games.
The game does appear to block some attacks for me even when I'm on Manual Mode. I would imagine that this has to do with the Evasion stat.
The story seems pretty standard at the moment. I'm only about 5 hours in so I would imagine that it will pick up soon.

I've made it to Chapter 6 recently. Just like with most Tales games, once I get started with it, I can't stop playing it. The story has REALLY picked up and the music just gets better and better. As far as the bosses go, I haven't had too much trouble with them even playing on Hard mode. The only two that were problematic were the Gigant and the Pharaoh Gigant. They had a bunch of incredibly dangerous attacks at their disposal. Jay has joined the party and his elemental attacks don't seem that useful. It takes so long for them to activate. Other than that, he seems like a fun character to use. Also, I am loving the Bantam Bouncers. It's been a while since I've laughed so hard at a video game.

Jay has a lot of really questionable design choices that make him really hard to use. He's got strengths though; Dagger is one of the best artes in the game, Ghost Blade has a good chance of Bind, and Tragic Gale (?) has a great chance of stun. So... he's interesting xD Plus Fallen Idol is one of my favorite artes in the series.

I've made it through Chapter 7 and Will's Character Quest a few days ago. Walter was definitely the toughest boss that I faced up to that point. His melee attacks were so fast and I could barely do anything. I had to poke him from afar with Sword Rain. As for the Raging Nerifes, it's probably one of my favorite final bosses ever. The battle changes constantly and it was so much fun. And then the credits rolled (Shrimp have claws!)
When it came to Will's Character Quest, I actually played as Will while I was going through the Waterways so I could understand how casters work better. When I got to Dark Will, he... really didn't do much. I thought I would have a rough time with him but I guess I was on point with my spell casting.

Yeah, he's the easiest form by a large margin. I mean, he doesn't even cast all that well =0\.

I just got through Chloe's and Moses' character quests. Dark Chloe is definitely the hardest boss that I've faced so far. She is so aggressive and I had such a hard time breaking through her Iron Stance. I had to use Chloe's counters in order to get past her. Dark Moses & Giet however got boxed in so he wasn't too difficult. Also, I don't know why but... Watching Moses and Giet go their separate ways got me so choked up.

Yeah, Dark Chloe is probably the worst offender in the game when it comes to penetrate. 15 + penetrate coupled with her speed is ridiculous. The end of Moses character quest was so surreal for me the first time I went through it. I assumed through it being a Tales game and general anime tropes Moses and Giet would beat the inevitable rift between Master and Beast, but I got a solid "Nope" from the game. Everything in life doesn't work out for the best.

Story-wise, I think the character quests are the best part of the game. I thought Chloe's was a really good take on the typical "revenge is bad" plot. It's been a while since I played the game, but I remember Will's standing out to me as well; it's rare that you see "daddy issues" from the father's perspective.
