Posting this on the abyss forums from reddit that I did
For those of you who have played Abyss, you might remember the super combo skill right? Where you can chain any 3 tier artes in any order? Well there was a ghetto way to do it but it did work.
Some of you might have known this(or all of you) but when making certain inputs in abyss with a field of fonon in a somewhat precise manner, you can use another arte no matter the tier. This is something that you don't need any skills for, just something in the games coding. When having a full FOF(or having the sun chamber FOF) you must use an arte before you get into the circle. But you also have to make sure that the FOF will vanish after you use that arte so the game won't read it as a FOF attack. One way to do it is either run up and use the arte a couple of seconds before it vanishes and/or use an arte that makes the character slide a bit further next to the FOF so you can slide right in it(Sword Rain, Lightning Blade, Rending Thrust etc).
You will then have a chance to use an arte of any desire(only physical artes) from any tier but since it reads it as a FOF attack, you can't chain 3 artes, only 2.
Note: You must also use an arte that has the FOF ability(Demon Fang, Severing Wind etc) Any artes that don't have it, the game won't read it due it it being a normal arte.
With that said....
Now regarding Zestiria, you have 5 arte button inputs, and no shortcuts(Don't know why they couldn't use it). So there is no way to use let's say, "Lion's Roar" unless you put it in the arte list or have Tenroha as the first tier in the list. You can't skip to it any other way. Until I messed around with Sorey and Rose.
The Input skip works here too, but a bit differently. This is less of something everyone can do and more so character orientated(meaning only Sorey and Rose can do this from my testing).
The easiest way to do this is with Rose but I'll do sorey.
Sorey's Severing Wind is an arte that puts you in the air and you can use the following arte, Jugohojin, in mid air.
Normally you would hold down O to use the next arte of Severing Wind but this is going to be different.
After you use that arte, Sorey will launch into the air but DON'T PRESS ANYTHING. Watch the frame once the SECOND he puts his hands down and press another tier arte that is either the 1st or 2nd tier hidden arte, Like Sonic Thrust. If inputted right, Sorey will skip Sonic Thrust and go on into Crimson Edge.
Since many of Rose's artes do this like Severing Wind, this applies to her also and works much better for her.
So pretty much this is just a little thing I found out regarding both games. It won't make a major difference but it'll provide some nice mixups with the characters.
TL;DR: You can skip an arte tier with Sorey or Rose by using an arte that will delay them in the air, while inputting another analog direction(and a 1st or second tier arte) during the the early-mid frames of their air artes.
EDIT: This works with Martial artes but it's VERY HARD to pull of by different means. I haven't quite figured it out yet...
