After the recent news It looks like the next title might be coming sooner than expected. Tales of Berseria was release in Japan August 2016, and the next game is to be released by March 2018. That's about 1 and a half year of development. For comparison sake, Tales of Vesperia was released August 2008 and Graces was released December 2009; they both are in different systems and with completly different styles of gameplay. It's true that the team was different back then, but It's still a slimmer of hope that this new game might be something completly new. So, I want you guys to share your predictions to what this game might be!
I saw tons of talk on all kinds of places when the news of a Switch "Tales of" game was announced, but it died down a bit. Now that they mentioned it again, I would love to see more discussion about it. For my personal prediction, I'm gonna be the pessimist type and say it's just going to be a Tales of Berseria port or just a Spin-off game to test the Switch. I feel that the current Tales team isn't that prepared to create a brand new game (with new graphics/gameplay and on a new system) the way they are now (remember 2008-2010 when we got Vesperia, Graces, Hearts and Dawn?). Still, if they're able to create something new, I'll buy a switch without a second thought. I heard people were expecting a Abyss remaster since there was a bunch of Abyss VAs coming to Tales Fes, but since Abyss is already in the 3DS I find that a bit strange; still, could definitely be possible. Also please don't take too long to release it in English Bamco :[

It's really hard to tell. If you go to my random thought post, I talked about how there's no real precedent for Tales ever since the teams merged, and I'll carry over that thought to here. Going a bit more in-depth:
Main-line game: Possible. If pushed by Nintendo or in any way funded by them, highly probable (and also exclusive). It would also be a decent way to sell some systems, though more-so in Japan than the west. However, with the recent trend toward multi-plat, along with the fact that this would leave far less than a year between announcement and release, it seems a pretty tight schedule in terms of building hype. Furthermore, the Switch doesn't have a large user-base yet, and you've put out the past 4 games on PS3/4 and the last 2 on PC, so not only are you targeting a smaller user-base, but you're thumbing your nose at the one you've spent the past half-decade building up. Also it would mean dealing with a new engine on a new system that nobody has any experience with, which would be really dumb and I absolutely would not put past them at all.
Port: Probable. I could see a Zestiria/Berseria combo pack, or maybe just the latter. It would be a chance to learn the ins-and-outs of the system, and may lead into future titles being Switch/PS4/PC (though this will inevitably lead to some people throwing a hissy because they want the next Tales to make full use of the PS4, even though Persona 5 is a PS3 game and looks effing gorgeous). I'm also going to throw a port announcement of the next game in here too.
Spin-off: Possible. The Switch has quite a few gimicky features that would make it good for a spin-off. However most Tales spin-offs tend to be on the cheap side, and I think people would expect more from something on the Switch. Plus a spin-off isn't exactly a bang-up way to show support for the system. It'd be kinda like if Microsoft were to release Halo Wars on Steam instead of an actual Halo game: a bit of a middle finger. Thank god that never happened.
Enhanced Port/Remaster: Unlikely. The post-merge Tales team seems pretty small, and I'm guessing they aren't going to be spending a bunch of time re-mastering an older game, least of all Abyss given the recent 3DS re-release. Tales does moderately well in Japan, but thanks to Zestiria, Berseria's sales weren't great anywhere, so I suspect most of their energy is going to go towards mainline games.
Of course, all of these are based on my own knowledge and common sense. If there's one thing I can say for certain about Tales studio, it's that they're second only to Final Fantasy in terms of JRPG franchises lacking common sense. Worse still, they've got Bamco as a publisher, which is like being trapped in a mental institution run by insane people.
I probably sound really negative, but it's not like I hate them or anything. It's just really frustrating looking at how so many of their recent problems seem to stem from raw incompetence somewhere in the management. Most of the team are probably hard workers doing their job, however I can't help but feel like someone (or some people) near the top are making really inept decisions that screw the course of the entire ship. Maybe they're gone now, and we're back on course. Maybe not. As it stands right now, my opinion is that this new Switch game could be anything from the next mainline Tales to Tales of Puyo Puyo, and I wouldn't be surprised.

I will love both SEGA & Bamco forever if this was the case. Using TalesFes as a frame of reference, I'm speculating a remastered port of Tales of the Abyss on the Switch. Considering how much they're pushing Abyss during TalesFes with the Stage performance on Day 1 and the VAs for Luke & Tear being there for Day 2 (the day where they generally have big announcements), it's the only thing that makes the most sense to me based on the information we have. It's hard for me to believe that they'll be waiting for TalesFes to just announce a Berseria port after all this teasing. That event is generally used to announce new mothership titles if there isn't one that we're currently waiting for--unless Berseria Switch complements whatever main title game they may announce. That combo pack does sound interesting, but I think it's in the best interests of both the fans and Bamco to leave that universe alone for a while--unless like the Berseria Switch prediction before, it could complement something bigger.

That combo pack does sound interesting, but I think it's in the best interests of both the fans and Bamco to leave that universe alone for a while--unless like the Berseria Switch prediction before, it could complement something bigger. I think they should move on completely, and have no doubt that they will. Tales typically doesn't linger in the same universe for more than 2 games. They tend to be at their best when they just do a one-and-done, so I doubt we'll see a third game there. However I don't think it'd be lingering too much to just release a port of what many appear to consider one of the best Tales in years. Actually, I think it'd be a nice gesture to Nintendo fans, who already have Abyss on the 3DS. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be opposed to an Abyss HD. Ever since my Vesperia re-play, I find myself somewhat conflicted on a 'favourite' Tales, since in terms of plot, Abyss doesn't have the third-act problem that Vesperia does. Yeah, people complain about all the back-tracking, but there's still character development. I'll take questionable pacing over zero character development any day. However, maybe the Abyss VO's are just there because that's who they could get? I'll admit to knowing absolutely nothing about the issue, but my first instinct when I see all the Abyss stuff leans more towards 'those are the people whose schedules are open' than 'this might mean something'. Again though, I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes. It'd be a bit of a bummer if it was an Abyss HD and remained Switch exclusive, but I don't think I'd be particularly broken up about it. The PS2 version holds up really well aside from the unvoiced skits and the one overworld music glitch.

Agreed with both of you, leaving the Zestiria/Berseria Universe alone would be the best for the series.
For a Tales of Abyss port... I wouldn't buy a Switch for that, but It would be nice. It would get even more new people in the series and maybe then Bandai Namco will start to put more focus on the Tales series instead of focusing more on the SAO games and things like that. I feel that the popularity of the series has skyrocketed after the steam releases of the games (not sure on the real numbers here), so having Abyss on Switch and Steam would also help.
I can also see that combo pack happening, since by then Berseria's price would drop a bit. Droping Berseria to $30 on PSN/Steam then releasing the pack for $60 would generate quite a bit of money; since Berseria was receive quite well by the community. With this and the new Symphonia Pachislot money mayyyybe they'll create a game for the PS4 with a new art/visual style? (if they don't announce a brand new game on the switch that is)
TalesFes is getting close and I'm already pretty excited to hear what's coming. Please, don't let me down Bamco!

The problem with making a switch game that is available is multiple platforms as well is the fact that Switch has less power than pretty much anything else in the market. You wouldn't want to make a game that looks outdated on everything else and you wouldn't want to downscale the graphics too much for the switch version either, IMO. Of course there is also the possibility that they will go for less graphically impressive game and put more effort on the systems, which would be really nice actually.
Abyss port sounds plausible, but that's no system seller. I guess it could very well be a DotNW for Abyss, with all the Abyss related teasing. Honestly all your predictions could be right so I don't have any idea what it could be.
I agree with grain, the games have obviously had some problems in the development, but I've got the impression that the PC releases have attracted new and some old, returning fans to the series. Berseria was quite well received on PC, 80 on metacritic is nothing to sneeze at. I can only imagine what a proper Vesperia or Abyss PC port would've received, with the being arguably the best/most polished in the series. Which is why I would be surprised if they abandoned PC all of the sudden. The sweet Nintendo money would probably be enough of a reason to do that probably.
