I just found out Ys Celceta has finally been patched to work on the Vita TV, so it's time for me to go through the whole series in optimal (imo) story order! Chronicles -> Celceta -> Felghana -> Napishtim -> Origin I'm skipping Kefin and Seven on the grounds that they don't have much to do with the larger plot (plus Kefin is clunky and Seven is grindy and long as f**k). I got stuck on a boss battle in Ys I and gave up. Is it worth moving on to the next one? If you're not into challenging boss battles, probably not. Ys II takes place immediately after Ys I (they're essentially one game), so you would be totally lost with the story anyway. I actually recommend Felghana as the best starting point in the series since it's still the best Ys experience mechanically and doesn't rely so much on the plot of the other games. But keep in mind the bosses are still tough as hell; the RPG elements are there, but at its core it's more action than RPG. I usually go with a Castlevania/Dark Souls comparison. If you want something a bit on the lighter side that plays more like a standard action JRPG then go with Seven or Celceta. They don't focus so much on over-the-top boss patterns and use a party and combat system not dissimilar to Tales.

Although I have a sinking feeling I decided to play on hard for some reason. XD Maybe I should start over and try again.

Vagullion is one of the most annoying fights in the game, so I don't think you'd have much trouble after that. The only thing is the ridiculous final boss. Ys II has a slightly different combat system with magic, plus you can use healing items during boss fights, which makes it significantly easier than Ys I. If you have the drive to finish the first game or start over on normal mode, I'd say go for it.

Hmm, I remember the name but not the fight itself.
Usually the solution in Ys I is to just grind a level or two. A few points of damage or HP make a big difference in survivability.

It's the vampire bat swarm at the bottom of Rastin Mine. And grinding won't do any good since most players reach the level cap by that point in the game.

Yo-Kai Watch.
I'm trying to get into it, but I really don't get the appeal or why it's billed as the next Pokemon. Maybe it's because I'm 24 and not 6, idk.
The battle system is boring and repetitious, and capturing Yo-Kai is an exercise in frustration. The non-intuitive food preferences aside, even if I get them what they want, they still never join me. Ever.

Ever. I enjoyed Yo-Kai Watch quite a bit, but eventually I just stopped doing quests that required certain yo-kai. Fortunately, people say the sequels greatly improved befriending yo-kai. By the way, battles become much harder in the post-game.

Befriending Yo-kai is bullsh*t, pure and simple. Agreed. It was the worst aspect of gameplay to me. Too much focus on guesswork to start with, and then waaaaaaay too much luck involved after that.

I picked up Pokemon Picross... and quickly blew through my Picrites. i'm ashamed to say it took me less than 12 hours to cave and fork over money to nintendo for picrites. I'll be damned if I only get to play picross in 5-minute increments I could have held out if it was going to take me a couple weeks of on-and-off playing like pokemon shuffle, but a quick cursory internet search told me it would take nearly a year of daily playing to beat the game. f**k that noise, just take my money

Picked up the new FE on launch day and I've been chipping at that for awhile. The writing leaves much to be desired, but I can't say I don't enjoy it. Gameplay-wise, it's phenomenal! A much needed improvement over Awakening.
