Isn't that rhythm game simple? If anything you should try Rhythm Heaven.
Fire Emblem Awakening's Lunatic mode.

That's the sad thing. It's supposed to be pretty easy as far as rhythm games go... :(

I try to never give in to a game if I like it even just a little bit, but there were a couple games I just could not persevere, either due to difficulty or sheer boredom or both.
For the same reasons as Joey I just could not stick through Xenogears I....I was really interested in that game and its story, but the slow pacing of the game was just painful. Really boring battles, and surprisingly difficult boss battles really early on (it was possible I was just bad though, too), and dreadfully long cutscenes. And to top it all off, Shion is one of the worst and most hateable main characters I've had the pleasure of playing as ever. No intention of playing that game ever again, even though I'm still interested in the series (I hear the other games are better too).
The one other game I can think of is Legaia 2: Duel Saga.....the first one was already ridiculously hard, I still saw it to the end (albeit cheating) at least....but the very beginning of Duel Saga was destroying me. I liked Legaia but I just couldn't keep enough interest, or patience, to keep playing.

I think Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has managed to put me off from finishing it. It's not that it's hard or frustrating or anything, it's just that all the overwriting and the general blandness of actually playing the game are really piling up, on top of the general quality dropping as the game goes on, and this last bit is just so asinine that I don't even want to do it. I actually completely dread any time I have to play as the titular brothers, because their battles in this game straight-out suck. Shame, because the first M&L was pretty brilo. On the other hand, Bowser is quite fun to play as and the game would have benefited greatly if it were cut down to just him. In particular, the majority of the Mario Bros' segments are ugly, annoying, repetitive side-scrolling things that are no fun at all. Whenever they're not doing the side-scrolling, they're wandering around an overworld that's simply too large for them, being sized for the larger, chunkier Bowser and large monster sprites, making a lot of the platforming sections there a pain since you can't see the platforms you can long-jump to. ...and then they give them a bunch of effectively 2D sections anyways! Aughhh. Fighting as the brothers is a pain since every enemy on the overworld is statted to be fought by the much more powerful Bowser, so they're a slog, and every enemy in the inner world (that is, inside Bowser's body) is just boring and tedious. One of the highlights of the game is the giant-sized battles, wherein you turn the DS on its side and use the stylus exclusively for controls. And even then, like everything else about it, they lose quality as the game goes on. The first few are exciting and interesting, then it's just a mindless routine thing, and then the last one is just awful. Also, Fawful. I am so damn sick of this thing. If I hear "I have X" or "chortles" or "fury" one more time I am going to... to... write a sternly-worded review on the internet. After being absurdly popular as a side-villain in the first game and a cameo in the second, he's now the main villain and his signature flavor is all over everything and it's just too much and it's infuriating. Imagine if Mars (the guy in Phantasia who resurrects Dhaos) starred as the villain of Symphonia, but with fifty million catchphrases and constantly yelling in font that takes up half the screen. General grumble: I really don't like the trope of having an overly talkative side character do the talking for mute protagonists- especially in games that are sequels to games that did fine without one. Tomba 2 was egregious in this respect, and this game follows the same model. The Mario Bros were fine with their blabbering and gestures. No one wants to deal with this thing squawking responses to every bit of dialogue in the game. It would be one thing if the dialogue was succinct like, oh, Paper Mario. No. Characters yammer on for lines and lines and lines, sort of like I do, but with more catchphrases and without the ability to skim and skip to the end for the TL;DR. And besides, I never claimed to be a good addition to a light RPG. Basically, the game is bloated and it makes me unhappy.

Kind of not surprised to hear you say that. I've heard some not-so-great things about that game, especially relative to the previous installment.

I've always heard Partners in Time was the one to skip and that BIS was quite good... Well, I suppose it doesn't matter now.
I just hope that the upcoming game will be decent, after the Paper Mario turned out to be a letdown.

It's hard to beat the original Superstar Saga or the Paper Mario rpgs in terms of greatness. I felt the same way about Partners in time and Inside Story. Sloggish and everything. HEY, Superstar Saga had Peach getting kidnapped as usual, BUT there was a genuine reason for once other than the fact that I'm-evil-and-kidnapping-princesses-is-what-I-do, AND there was a twist on top of that.
Wow, what a great game, and it even ties into me admitting defeat. When I was a younger lad and got a gameboy advance, my first game was superstar saga. I felt gypped at first since I was expecting a 2d sidescroller mario game but it grew on me immensely. I blasted through the game and got the the final boss where no matter how hard I tried, I could never get the timing for the dodges down. I put the game away.
Years later, I grabbed what I thought was my case of DS games for a road trip in the dark and half asleep. When I checked on the road, I had instead brought superstar saga. A much more coordinated person, I cleared the game with ease. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER

Wow, I forgot about Bowser's Inside Story. I wouldn't say I admitted defeat, but I definitely just slowly lost interest in it and dropped it. I didn't really understand why either and couldn't give it any other reason besides 'it was boring', but after reading Hiro's post I guess that articulates it pretty well. I kinda still want to finish it, but it's not a priority.
This reminded me that I also dropped Final Fantasy III. I got to the last dungeon and simply lost interest. It was pretty unforgiving, and the lack of interesting characters and story didn't help things.

For me, though, the biggest thing was the huge difficulty jump between the areas before it and the final dungeon, so I didn't want to bother grinding.

Mmm... Happened to me in Final Fantasy XIII. I like it, but I completely suck at it, so It will be collecting dust for a while.
The other game is Yu Gi Oh: The Falsebound Kingdom. I don't even have words to describe how bad it was.
And also SuperGodzilla for SNES. I never understood how to play it properly when I was a kid, and I also managed to get worse at it now.

About a year and a half ago, I bought Conception 2. I thought that it would be a game that I could just have a few chuckles and be done with it, but it rapidly turned into a mindless grindfest without any redeeming qualities. I was so bored of it that I used Auto Battle through most of the dungeons. The story didn't help out either. It was very generic and the fan service wasn't even that amusing.
Near the end of the game, I fought a boss that used a normal attack that hit all of my party members, prevented me from healing, and he could use it multiple times in a row. After fighting him four times, I gave up and deleted all of my save data for the game. I never want to play that game again.
