My friend and I debated this for quite a while, whether anise should be utilized as a fighter or a mage (if shes even lucky enough to be in my party XD) I said Mage. IMO she has SOME decent phys attacks but her combos are lacking compared to Jade's who's also a magic user

I like her better as a mage. She's got some awesome spells, even if she doesn't have a lot =)

She's a weird mix in between...I know that Radiant Mythology has the category of "Magic Knight", so if anything, I guess I'd consider her one of those. She seems more like a Mage though, because SHE doesn't do the physical attacks, just Tokunaga...and she controls him, and then has the spells...so I guess a Mage. Mage just doesn't seem to fit her though, XD;;

Negative Gate and Bloody Howling are awesome, so mage. Always used her as a mage, anyway.

I will not vote because I say both, I think she works well as a fighter as she is basically a tank and can take a bunch of damage. But I use her as a mage as the situation calls, weak to magic, mage, FoF away from the enemy done, guy needs some FoFs, done, or sometimes a feel like being a mage.

I always thought of her more of a monk, because for some reason monks in Tales games can use magic.
Technically though Abyss lists her class as 'Puppet Master'

She's a fighter who can use magic, really. Tokunaga just happens to be her main weapon.

I agree with the statement that's she's a mix of both of them. As a player of some Online-Mass-Multiplayer-Games, Battle Mages are common and a balanced class and rely on different stradegies to change back and forth depending on the party. However Anise can't heal.
If I were to weigh them both, maybe more of a fighter not a mage because she is more of a physical damage dealer.

I don't think she works on the sidelines no matter what you have her do. Her light and dark spells are different then Jade's spells since they provide different FoF's to use. And her fighting style is different then the other fighters. And she is unique when you have Luke and Natalia whose counterparts are better then them(Guy and Tear), why not has Anise in there?

I like her as a fighter... she's the one I used. We left the casting to Jade, healing to Natalia(My lil sis) or Tear(NPC) while I play as Anise =3 (I dunno why, it seems that I like using the slow characters... i.e. Presea, Anise and Karol.) Dual Punishment FTW xD. Why isn't Luke/Guy in my party? Simple... I don't like using swordsmen (as I said in the other thread, I don't like using swords...)

I also like the slow characters, and the fast ones two and magic casters. Although most of the time I go for fast, I only play as Anise or Jade if I'm playing with my brother who can only play and Guy. But sometimes I'll play as Jade or Anise when I feel like it or it's needed. But setting FoF's for yourself as Jade it so fun.

Some perfer her in the party, some do not. It's true that you can have her be a tank, as you have said rust, but it's kind of hard unless she's the player character (keeping the aggro on her, I mean). I'd love to hear stradegies for her use but I'm afraid I'm the kind of person who likes to get things done fast, so that must be why I don't perfer her in the party.
Think of Luke and Guy, both are swordsmen, however, one is more traditional while the other is more of a rapid attacker. Tear is more of a healer while Natalia is more of a supporter. Jade can be the overpowered damage dealer for his spells. Anise is unique for her own abilities, but in the end, she is a damage dealer as well.
Anyways, it's how I view her. I don't mean to say that she's totally bad and shouldn't have been in the game.

I control Jade in my party because I use him to set up the FoFs for the others (not to mention himself). I tend to use Anise and Luke as my front tanks, with Natalia as my other distance attacker/healer.
You can set up Anise to do nothing but physical attacks by turning off her Artes and changing her strategy to don't use TP.
