Okay, so even Namco says that Tempest was merely a "stepping stone" for a far better future for the DS... which happens to be Tales of Innocence.

Ordered this game yesterday, but it won't arrive so soon because I chose it to be shipped together with another game which I wanted.(Yggdra Union PSP >__>)
Even though many say it's bad, I still want to try it. Many games I thought won't be good, I ended up playing and enjoying them anyway. But I can't say for sure that I'll enjoy this one though(Even if it is a Tales game...oh well, I'll still give it a go)^^;

Well, even though a lot of people say that it's bad, I ordered it today. (Hey, it's only $15 on Play-Asia, and I wanted to buy it eventually anyway. >>) Some people do say that it's not bad, though. Although judging from most of the complaints about it that I've heard, most of the criticism stems from people expecting too much from it. All I'm expecting at the moment is something entertaining to keep me busy for a few hours. =/
The intro wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have actual gameplay footage in it. Take out the scenes of Caius running around in dungeons, and it's actually pretty good as an RPG intro. Although the mixing of 3D graphics and anime sequences makes it flow a little awkwardly.

I agree, the shots of the world map and footage in the intro were turn offs, but if the story is good then, who needs two minutes of intro they won't watch a second time eh? ^^

Honestly? This is the 3rd Tales I played, after Symph, which isn't comparable, and Phan GBA, and I quite enjoyed it. The battle system was a bit weird (I don't really understand how it works, but I should try again, maybe this time it'll work better) and I hated going back and forth on the world map, but apart from that, it was a good game, and a great RPG for the DS. I liked the story, a bit short and had potential to do more, but it was still nice. Interesting characters, too. Well, now that I've played Innocence and especially Hearts, I understand how it can be considered 'bad' for a Tales... Still, I'd like to play it again one of these days...

I have mixed feelings. For the most part, I like the characters and the ability to transform into a werewolf (though I never used it), but the battle system was frustrating and I hated wandering around on the world map. Overall, I'm glad I got it and played through it, but I don't think it was worth past the $17 I paid for it.

i myself did not like Tempest at all,one of the few tales i didnt not like that i have played,the enemy surprize battle theme was annoying and always kept coming up almsot every random battle >.< the worldmap was a bit slow and you had ot stop to turn the screen around or thats what it seemed like to me,i was not fond of the main character at all,the opening for the game i found was cool for a different approach in a way but still odd,the only thing i liked about the game was alot of its music besides the surpized attack battle theme >.< so i give the game credit for its music but that is all,Tempest is a Tales i highly not recommend

I LOVE THE STORY. The gameplay's just a turn off. (One of the best storylines in Tales IMO)

I like the characters fair-well, the story's awesome, I think, but yeah...the gameplay leaves much to be desired, but it was a first attempt for the DS, so I can forgive it. ^^ I still like Tempest~

The thing that pissed me off the most is the Bumping into allies System. You use a Melee you Mage is casting Nurse (if she is willing to cast Nurse) You run towards her* you bump heads* Now you canceled the magic chanting. Allies and Enemies are a Mage BANE!

I started playing and absolutely didn't like it at all. If they made a Tales of the Tempest Turbo then probably I'll play it in more detail.

The gameplay is sooo boring, but the story is really great.
After all Tempest is a Tales, and i guess it's better then any DS game came in the same time as Tempest.

I have a copy of the game, but I didn't get far because the japanese was too confusing and eventually, I had to give up.
I did however, enjoy the three line battle system.
