Antihistamines rarely make me feel drowsy, but then I've only ever taken over-the-counter stuff. Benadryl does nothing to me, but some people I know it completely knocks them out. To each their own.
I've been tired for so long at this point that it's starting to feel normal. Thing is, those few days I posted about earlier were so awful that all I could manage was sitting around feeling miserable. I didn't even play any games aside from a few rounds of half-minute hero. Compared to that, being able to stand, move around, talk, and actually feel invested in something is excellent, even if I'm yawning and exhausted by 10:30.

In order to make Edge useful, you need the Black Garb. Where is the Black Garb? In a chest in the final dungeon.
Ayup.

The HDMI ports on my TV died. I feel so many things right now that they all cancel each other out.

I'm confused, are there some positive feelings associated with all the HDMI ports dying? Or how do they cancel each other out? If it was only negative I'd imagine it would just feel extra s***ty.
I know a few people who have had their HDMI ports die on their monitors recently. Maybe it's the COVID.

Well, I'll be leaving at some point, so it's not *that* big of a deal. I can still finish Persona 5 Royal using the living room TV during the few hours a day when nobody is home. Otherwise, it's a bummer, but it's not like... the end of the world?
Basically on the one hand it sucks to lose a TV right now, when I have nothing else to do. On the other, I won't be here for long enough to seriously consider replacing it anyway.

Season 3 of Oregairu is officially underway. I will now look forward to every Friday with the zeal of a Racoon in the dumpster of a Chinese restaurant.

Have you heard back on when JET will be a thing? Some guy is interested in my apartment. He came over, looked at it for like two seconds, then announced, "Let's do it!" Man of little deliberation, apparently! He has to get approved by the management company, so we'll see if it actually pans out...

We got an e-mail just recently saying that regular departures have been delayed indefinitely as well. Along with the e-mail was the hope that they would be able to let us know at least two months in advance of departure. So basically, it's gonna be a hot minute.
I hooked up my PS3 to my computer monitor, so I guess I'll live with this for a bit. I was trying to play something on my PSP, but trying to play a handheld system while standing has actually given me some incredible back pain. Actually, being tall has made this whole standing thing suck, but at least the TV was large enough to be almost eye-level...
Oh yeah, Derman: Akechi does survive. He's in the new content, but he's real Akechi, so he's a no bullsh*t, sulky riot. He uses his "real" form in the Metaverse, telling Kasumi essentially "I don't need to play the Detective Prince for your benefit". Yup. I like this Akechi.

Hm. Yeah, that's rough. On one hand, I was going to say at least Japan has COVID under control... but then I remembered we live in a country that simply can't get its sh*t together on this thing. (Not to mention you live in the very state where everything is on fire right now. How's that going? I guess Doug Ducey isn't getting re-elected anytime soon.)
You still have a PSP? What are you playing on it? I always forget the PSP existed. I played it a lot in high school, but it broke my freshman year of college, and in the month or two interim that it took me to get a new one, I moved onto the 3DS, and I just never resumed playing. I never liked how fragile it felt. Never wanted to take it anywhere. I think the way my first one even broke was because the disk stopped spinning after it fell from my bed (granted, I was on a bunk bed). Fragility is kind of not a great thing for a handheld, which will get dropped at some point.
I haven't been playing any video games at all recently, not since Animal Crossing. I really want to play the Sims again, but ... meh. I never really cared very much for the Sims 4, and I've had the Sims 3 for over 10 years now. I own all of the expansions and then some. There is really nothing new for me to do. I wish they would come out with the Sims 5 already.

My PSP is hacked, so it plays Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, PS1, Genesis, and PSP games. Honestly it's my favourite handheld, because while my 3DS is hacked as well, the two screens are cumbersome when you only use one. On top of that, it's just not as comfortable to hold/use.
The only reason I'm playing games right now is because life is so aimless. I woke up today, and just wanted to go back to sleep because at least in my dreams I'm -doing- stuff (even if it is completely nonsensical, like hanging out with friends I haven't seen since jr. high). Seriously, my file in Royal is at 123 hours right now, and while I don't recall exactly when I started, I still put in like 4-5 hours a day (or I did, until my TV broke). I'm so fuggin' bored. It's not just going outside at this point, it's feeling like life is moving towards something. But what can I do? Getting a job right now would be hard enough on its own, but I especially don't want to risk exposure to COVID. So I guess for now it's just games. Might as well enjoy them while I can...

Oh, yeah, if you're using it as an emu console, then the 3DS is definitely a worse choice with the 2 screens. Honestly, I don't feel like the 2 screens added THAT much. I did love the clamshell design, though. Never had to worry about the screen getting scratched.
I feel you on the wanting to go back to sleep bit. I'd volunteer to go into a coma until all of this is over, TBH. The only way I'm keeping myself sane is by setting microgoals for myself--get a license, buy a car, move out, etc. All of those things have steps themselves involved that are spread out in 2 or 3 week increments, so I'm trucking along, I guess.

The 3DS is really uncomfortable for longer sessions. I bought a 2DS for emulator stuff recently, but I can't use it for that long until my hands start to hurt. Although the battery is not very good either, so it's not like that's the only limiting factor.
Congrats on finding someone to take your apartment. I'm glad that's not something I'd have to care about if I were to move out. A huge portion of people living around here are students or working at the university (which is literally like 300m from my apartment), and with the uni being closed it doesn't matter where you live, remote teaching will be the same. And they are also going to move the university elsewhere in the near future. So I'd imgagine a lot of people are going to move away fromt this area, and not many people would be interested in moving in.
My 2 week vacation ended today... first proper one I've had in 5 years. I remember a long time ago I posted here that I got my first proper summer job, and I've been quite busy since then. I didn't do anything productive or interesting, but for some reason doing nothing for two weeks felt a lot better than doing nothing else but work for two weeks.

Tonight my dad and I were doing Kanji's dungeon. He played a few floors, then passed me the controller at floor 8. Our mana was in a prettycrapspot, so we agreed we'd use the fox to complete the dungeon in one day. However, I wanted to get as close to the boss as possible, so I decided to push on one more floor. Thanks to some cup cards, I managed to finish floor 8 with more mana than I started. From there I went on through 9, carefully conserving as much mana as I could. At floor 10 we agreed it was time to fox it, so after spending 3/4ths of our money to restore our SP, I handed the controller back to him so he could do floor 10, and I'd take it back for the boss. By the time I got the controller back both MC and Yukiko were at half SP.
I don't particularly care: it's on normal, I'm playing for fun and I was able to down the boss without trouble. Also it's not like he made any choices that I would consider "wrong", just a bunch of minor decisions in each battle which added up. For instance, if a group of enemies lose more than half their health from MC's first spell, rather than wait for Yukiko to finish it off (as she's capable of dealing ~50% damage to each enemy), he'd have Yosuke use Maguru to take them down to ~10%, then have Yukiko use Maragi. Had you just had Yosuke guard/attack, you could have saved 10 sp.
It's not a "wrong" decision, but it's not an "optimal" one, and I'm enjoying seeing the various ways in which someone who isn't familiar with this system tries to learn it. I don't point out most of these optimisations because I think it's more fun to play and learn rather than have me constantly barking commands each time he's holding the controller (although I will tell him to use the higher level items, because it's not like beads are super valuable late-game anyway). I want him to have a good time, and I'm enjoying watching him learn it. IDK, maybe that's weird.
Speaking of which, it occurred to me that Persona 5: Royal might have a little too much going on for someone brand new. Not only does it have 8 elements and 2 forms of physical damage (compared to 4's 4 elements and 1 physical), but Personas now have traits which give more customisation (e.g. my Yoshitsune's trait makes charge do 3x damage instead of 2.5). There's also technical damage, which was present in 5 but really takes a whole new role in Royal thanks to the billiards game buffing it to count as a knockdown. Having Makoto, Ryuji and Ann has been amazing, since Ryuji/Ann can shock/burn an enemy, which allows Makoto's nuclear spells to count as a technical. Thus, even an enemy with no weaknesses can be taken down. I love this extra layer of synergy it brings to the cast, because you now can consider how characters can work together to abuse technicals. However I think if I were new to this franchise, my head would be spinning from the amount of options.
Bouncing between Golden and Royal, Golden feels almost barren by comparison. No baton passes, no technicals, no guns, no nuke/psy, no eiga/kouga, no negotiations, no harisen recovery, no crafting infiltration tools to abuse battle items, and so on. On the one hand, I'm very glad I'm not trying to explain all these additional layers of nuance to my dad. On the other, as a veteran of the series (can I say that?), I love the amount of options and miss them dearly when they're gone.

Well, I will finish Royal tomorrow. I did more this playthrough than I ever thought I would.
99 for all party members 99 for each Persona that I'm using 999 HP (thanks gym) All severe spells + amps + boosts + spell master Yoshitsune and Beelzebub with 99 in all stats Yoshitsune immune to everything except guns and fire 9,999,999 yen Complete compendium (minus Stanael) Fully ranked baton passes Fully ranked technicals All confidants maxed All non-repeating, non-romance required room decorations obtained Caught the guardian Slaughtered the reaper Slaughtered Jose Slaughtered P3/P4 protag in their max-level fights
There's still some one or two things I'd like to have done if I had more time, but all-in-all I feel like I've seen pretty much everything the game has to offer.

I HATE the term "folks."
Invariably, it feels like you're trying to sound woke and "about the people."
Please go back to using the term "people", thanks.
