When fighting in battles in Tales of Xillia, who do you prefer to use as your main, player controlled character?
I'm surprised that it's not too difficult to control everyone with ease, but out of all of them, I prefer using Rowen. The times when I can't use Rowen (like if there are too many quick enemies spreading out the field), I use Leia instead.
Otherwise, I give rotate everyone for near equal usage, something I rarely do in most tales games.
How about you? Who do you prefer to use in battle?

Jude, I picked him as my main character for the first(of many) playthrough exactly because he was a martial artist who fights with his fists ans feet.
After having used him extensivly I must say I love how fast he is with lots of quick strikes, a variety of elemental attacks and good links.

Jude, mainly because I enjoy his style. It's nice to see a fighter when I am so use to swordsman as the main character. Next comes Alvin or Leia. Leia for Speed, Alvin for Strength. If characters had more Linked Artes, I would use them more. I don't like that Millia and Jude have the most. Their the main characters, I get it. But, I feel that some people should have more.

To follow up on the thread question: Who do you least prefer to use in battle? Is it because this character is difficult to use? You just don't like using this character? Or even dislike the character him/herself? Or is there another reason? I haven't explored Elize that much yet, but I did enjoy using her when I tried to. I found it interesting that Milla, even though I still enjoy using her, is the character I rarely find a situation to use for since she doesn't have healing artes or any self-recovering arte and using her made me use up a crapload of TP (unlike Rowen, who can be setup to rarely need TP recovery items). It's only in later levels do I start using her a lot more, thanks to having a higher TP count, high air mobility/comboability... and air cast. Casting spells while midair felt so cheap

Jude. I enjoy Jude's fighting style much more than any other Tales protagonist (Yes, even more than Ludger's). Alvin and Leia had potential for me to use them but I just found them very limiting comparison to Jude which I found annoying because essentially everyone was usable in Graces F.

When I am playing in normal battles, I use Jude, Alvin, Millia, and Leia. When I am fighting a boss, I use Jude, Alvin/Millia (which ever I feel like could win me an easy victory), Elize, and Leia. Elize and Leia are set to only heal while I play as Jude linked to either Millia or Alvin depending on the boss resistance. When I first used Rowen, I was very impressed with his combat style. It was very unique. Reminded me of Frederic from Eternal Sonata mixed with Estelle from Estelle. His arte tuning ability is interesting only when you play as him; you feel like you are in control of his artes. I will only use him as a Linked Partner if the enemy I am fighting is a horde of magic users. If he had a little more Linked Artes, that also might get me more interested. His Mystic Arte did surprise me. I thought it was the 2nd most interesting one of the group. I find that he is a very good addition to the group. He just doesn't fit with my playing strategy. A new question should be: who do you think is the perfect Linked Partner? Obviously it depends on the situation. Who is the most used and why?

Alvin. I find his play style interesting to me and he really grew on me as a character as I played.

Jude for the most part, but i have to admit, every character in this game is very unique and fun to play. I tried all of them and no one was awful o worse than the others.

I usually will play a game to completion with the main character, then switch to a side character for any playthroughs beyond that. I've taken a liking to Alvin and his charge artes ability. His "altered artes" pack so much punch and serve versatile purpose while also being able to smash guards.

That'd be Jude for me. I'm the type of player who values speed/agility the most when I'm looking for my main and given that sword users (both male and female) and fighters are my favorite classes in general, the choice was extremely easy right from the jump. I like that other than the basic fighter artes, he also took something from at least every fighter in the series...and then some moves that were originally first seen as sword artes, like Rising Falcon. xD Pretty much having access to at least one of every element in his artes, that's a plus too.
His character development was pretty awesome and near end of the game, he impressed me to no ends.

Lately, I've found myself using Leia a lot. I find combo-ing with her is fun!
I also use Jude, Elize, and Rowen. Don't like Milla a whole lot--for some reason, I can't get the hang of her.

Jude for me. Milla was okay.
I tried using Alvin, but urgh. Too slow. I don't really care for mages, so I ignored everyone else.
