There is a process for creating guides on this site. After discussion with Breadban and coming up with multiple concepts, I've finally figured out a good system for guide creation.
The "Guide Discussion" is the beginning home for any guide here. WIPs, Polls, and Ideas are discussed and presented here, and here only. The other Tales forums are for discussing the respective games, so the technical know-how will be funneled to this board. This way we keep a "file" of sorts that contains the information in one single location. The second reason is to prevent flooding of guides from different people taking over the forum.
As the head of the project I will be the final say that determines whether a guide is posted or not. There are some qualifications that need to be met before a guide transitions from the discussion board into the approved(sticky) board. The approved section is where all of the guides will be. No post, no discussions, just information that will constantly receive updates as new information comes up, or whenever edits are required.
Here is how the process will work.
1: If you want to make a guide, you present a topic in the discussion board.
-EX: "Tales of Hearts R: The Mechanics"
1a: Here is where my notes would be published and discussion begins. People can add, subtract, and debate points here.
2: Once a solid and concise concept is made the user organizes that information into a well-formatted guide.
2a: The format has to be neat and on topic.
EX Format:
Introduction
Table of Contents
-Guide Information-
Conclusion
The information within the guide can be further broken down in specific sections as you deem fit.
3: Submitting the Guide
Once you feel the guide is complete you will submit a text document to my PM or Email. I will personally read through the guide and determine if the guide is in-depth enough to warrant a sticky. There are no limitations to submitting your guide. If it gets rejected multiple times, you are free to start from part 1 until it is ready to be submitted again. Once accepted, the guide will be moved to the approved guide section.
-------------------
There are some rules I expect from any user to follow.
- The guide must be in-depth. General or vague guides will be rejected. Pick a specific point and provide all of the information you can.
- Give proper credit where it is due. If you learned specific information from another user, give the proper respect and credit
- Do not copy information from another FAQ you may of read elsewhere. I will cross-reference other guides and if I discover information has been plagiarized your guide will be rejected and your guide privileges will be revoked.
- Before you transition into composing your guide all participants will vote in a poll to determine whether the information provided is enough to compose a guide. At least 75% must vote yes before you can move onto the second phase
- No duplicate guides. If you have additional information to add, make a topic within the discussion board and the users will determine whether or not the information is worth adding to the guide (assuming it was approved). If the guide has not yet been approved simply post in the respective topic.
- There are no time limits to bumps. You can bump old topics whenever you have anything of importance to add.
- You are free to make a guide for anything. Mechanics, Character Guides, Team Synergy, Voice Actors, Items, etc are all fair game. Just make sure to make the initial discussion topic.
- If you can, provide video and/or images to support any information you provide. Usage of Aselia and other secondary sources are fair, as long as credit is given.
