Now this is a thread I always like to see. This is a topic that always reminds me of why I play games. Recapturing that feeling of elation is a very nice incentive, no?
Now, given that this thread can bring up a bit of narcissism (Oh? You beat XXX on hard? Well, I beat XXX on extreme!) I will ask that everyone remain civil and charitable to each other.
For me, my proudest achievement will always be 120% completing Spyro the Dragon. It was the first game I finished to true completion, and I hold it dear to my heart.
So how about you all?

I don't know if this is my proudest achievement, but it's the first one that comes to mind since it was only a year ago: beating the final boss in Ys: The Oath in Felghana without getting hit. I did this on the easiest difficulty, but it was still pretty damn hard to dodge everything. I know there's an easy way to get the achievement because you won't take damage at max level on the easiest difficulty, but I didn't feel like grinding and it felt really cheap to do it that way.

I was pretty happy with getting all the achievements for Resident Evil 5 back in the day. It was the first game I'd done it for, but then Capcom ruined it by releasing DLC that added more achievements so I didn't have 100% completion anymore, lol. Other than that, beating Halo 3 on Legendary difficulty with my older brother many moons ago comes to mind. It was hard, took a long time, but above all it was tons of fun.

Completing 100% of Super Metroid made me feel good as a kid, I still remember sitting there and looking at the end result screen. I also beat both Zelda: OOT and MM 100% but for some reason it didn't feel much of an achievement back then. The most recent gaming achievement is the 100% Dark Souls, which really was something. I guess beating both Baldur's Gates with Core DnD rules counts as some sort of achievement, especially since I didn't go for the most broken character builds.

I would have to say that I'm proud to be one of the first people in the world to have caught a shiny in Pokemon X/Y.
I got the game at the midnight release and started immediately, and hour or so in I found and caught a shiny Fletchling.
Not really so much an achievement as it is just dumb luck, but still it was pretty awesome. ^_^

Getting 100% in Sonic Adventure 2 is one of my fondest memories. Coming up with strategies to get A-Ranks, raising Chao, and even messing around with Kart Racing... I enjoyed doing all of it.

Not too many of these, but the one that always comes to mind is beating FFVII when I was younger. (I was about 7 or 8) Was the first JRPG that I'd beaten completely on my own. Took quite a while to do so, especially since I was horribly horribly ill-prepared for Sephiroth.
I look back on it and laugh at how much I struggled, but I miss being challenged to that degree by gaming, most games nowadays are much too easy so I can't appreciate my achievements in them as much as I do the ones from my youth.

Beating Shin Ryumaou in Flying Dragon without recovery items on the N64. This cheating boss was able to refill his health bar nine times in one round while you were stuck dealing with his all ranged life sucking item as well with his high leveled equipment. I don't think I'll ever be able to suffer through that again, but boy did it feel satisfying to smack him down after several attempts.
