It's been months since I finished the game, so I might have forgotten a few details, but I can't figure this out no matter how much I think about it. How did Mithos's body get to Vinheim?
At the Tower of Salvation, he appeared to die. His body disappeared. Even if that was just for graphical reasons, his Cruxis Crystal fell off, which seems like a good indication of death. Now, his spirit is still attached to the Cruxis Crystal, so he continues to be a problem and decides to possess someone so he has another body to use.
But then in the final area of Vinheim, his body is waiting for him. How did it get there? Did he somehow make an extra body just in case? Did his "dead" body at the Tower of Salvation revive sometime after we left with the Cruxis Crystal and have enough mobility (or the help of angels) to get up there alone? But why did the crystal fall off?

I honestly have no clue - I've only finished Symphonia twice, so I don't really remember the finer details. Sorry I'm not posting an answer, but I figured it's better than letting you think the topic was being completely ignored.

I wonder if anyone knows. xD They should have clarified that in the PS2/Chronicles release like they did some other confusing points. My current theory is that the body only disappeared for graphical reasons, Mithos was faking his death with the full intention of getting up as soon as the party left, and he just wasn't expecting Genis to pocket his Cruxis Crystal.

Mithos's soul entered the Cruxis crystal upon his death just like Alicia. The Great Seed and his corpse then moved to Vinheim somehow--probably when he started pulling Derris Kharlan away from the two worlds. When the party arrived in Vinheim, the Cruxis crystal reacted and his soul re-entered his body. Mithos then thanked the party for "going through all the trouble to bring me back here."

So his body didn't really disappear, and the Cruxis Crystal fell off because he was deadish? XD

XD My interpretation is that it fell off because his body died, but his soul went into the Cruxis crystal just like Alicia's went into her exphere after Regal killed her. This is the first step in the process of becoming a lifeless being. I don't know why his body disappeared, but I think that was just a graphical oversight or it was just a simpler way to show that he died.
