Honestly when I watch stuff for say, P5 or DQ11, I get such a sense of spirit that I don't get when I watch stuff for Berseria. Almost like the devs/publishers/PR guys or whoever aren't hype for their own product. At this point the combat looks too different for me to have much of an opinion on. Could be fun, all depends on how it handles. Seems like the new producer is getting several points right (still no item pictures though), so I'll be checking out Japanese/importer impressions in two months.
Thanks for sharing!

I always skip to the forums without going through the main AC page (or use tapatalk) so I miss a lot of this stuff. If I had to say anything about these videos, I'd say that the battle system looks really floaty, which is really vague description. I can't tell what makes the difference but I don't personally like it.

Fateoffate, you da man, thanks for all this info! Anyway, I made a short analysis about this latest battle system video: - Velvet Combo: 0:00 - 0:11 -> Standart Velvet combo, 4 arte combo into Break Soul, then 3 more artes into another Break Soul. It seems that you can't link more than 4 artes (the size of the arte tree) in a combo, and the only way to do another chain is to use a Break Soul, which limits the battle system a bit (inb4 200 hour grind for eterniti lol). The downside of using artes without SC/Souls (forgot which one) only come when you try to use your 4 arte chain when low on SC/Souls I suppose.I can see Velvet also has lots of different Break Soul attacks and, when in "Break Soul mode" her artes gain new effects. Also in the end Velvet hits the enemy on the ground, but the arte that she used didn't seem to have an OTG (off the ground) effect.
- Laphicet Combo: 0:10 - 0:24 -> 3 combos, 1st one is 3 artes into Break Soul, which he canceled into a spell, it looks like he can combo just like Velvet though, since his Break Soul can be canceled pretty quick. 2nd combo he just hit the enemy after the spell with 3 artes and, since he's using semi-auto, his 4th arte (which was not used in the 1st combo) hits the enemy behind him("3rd combo"). Some of Laplicet artes look like have a long stagger time (like the ice one) so I hope spell cancelling (casting a spell after a chain then cancelling it with guard) can also be used to extend his combos (with the downside of running out of SC quick).
- Rokurou Combo: 0:24 - 0:0:32 -> Rokurou does 4 artes into.......... a crit stun... No, Rokurou can't chain more than 4 artes or cancel into a Break Soul, so it looks like we need to figure out a way to combo with him when we get the game. His artes look cool though.
- Rokurou Break Soul 1: 0:32 - 0:38 -> Rokurou's counter. It healed him for quite a bit and knocked the enemy down. But again, no OTG.
- Eleanor Combo: 0:38 - 0:50 -> Eleanor does a 4 arte combo into a Break Soul, I don't know if the 4th arte she did has a knockdown effect, but if it has, her Break Soul can OTG, only downside is that it downs the enemy again. Her Break Soul also takes more time to cancel than Laplicet, so it's not that good. I think that, just like Velvet, she has differents Break Soul attacks, though I'm not sure. After the Break Soul in the video she did a spell, so Spell Cancelling can be a thing with Eleanor too.
- Magilou Combo: 0:50 - 1:03 -> 2 combos, 1st one is 3 artes into a spell, which kills the enemy. Second one is a 4 arte combo into another hit, but don't be confused, the first arte she does crit stuns the enemy for a loong time so she can start another chain after the first 4 arte chain. (Stop with the stun abuse Namco!!1!!1)
- Magilou Break Soul: 1:03 - 1:10 -> She can start her Break Soul if the enemy casts a spell, but it takes a while for it to go off, so Magilou is a bit vulnerable when she does it. The animation ends before the first hit so it has some combo potential and utility, it also doesn't seem to knockdown, so thats a plus.
- Eizen Combo 1: 1:10 - 1:14 -> Standart Eizen combo, 4 (or 5? I don't know the arte names to see if Velvet or someone else did a arte too) arte chain with no Break Soul cancel, since he can only do it when a enemy is stunned/downed (it looks like he could do it here, but decided not to).
- Eizen Combo 2 and Break Soul: 1:14 - 1:21 -> 4 arte combo, the last arte stunned so Eizen activated Break Soul, dealing massive damage. Nothing special to say here though. His Break Soul doesn't look like it can launch or stagger the enemy enough for Eizen to come down and do an OTG.
- Party Combo: 1:21 - 1:38 -> Namco can't combo, that or air hits are just bad, since when the enemy touches the ground the combo drops. Rokurou Switch Blast also has a knockdown effect so that's an instant combo ender.
- Velvet MA: 1:38 - 1:47 -> Break Soul into MA, also random "Smash!", which mean the enemy is dead I guess.
As far as character goes, my favorites so far are Laphicet and Eleanor (or maybe Magilou if her attacks get faster with equips). The battle system still hasn't suprised me though, only when I play the game I'll give my opinion, one thing I can say though, is that this game needs OTG's (and not just spells).(Edit: where is my front and back steps? )
Anyway, that's my analysis of the video. If I got something wrong please tell me so I can fix the post, also, If you find something out tell me aswell!

As my expectations were true, the combat seems like it's going back to the more simplistic varies of Graces. Everyone seems to have the same amount of speed and input again, but it seems worse as the playstyles feel a bit too similar and the artes don't seem to have any other attributes rather than multi hits or thrust into air.
Since the Xillia team is doing this, I expect a lot of linear things in the game. Combat looks fun but simple as the past iteration.
Personally, I'm not too fond of rather simplicity but thats just me. It has improved really from Zestiria, but I'm now having second thoughts about it..
Meh, we'll see what the future holds. Thanks* Fate for links and nice Analysis VCent.
EDIT: To tired to spell.

I agree that it seems simplistic on the surface, but I really think it'll come down to how it plays. On the surface Smash Bros. Melee looks like a very simplistic game, which is definitely the impression you'd get from watching the average person play. Yet high level Melee play is some of the most frame-perfect shenanigans ever to exist. Not saying that this'll be even remotely that complex - just that it's really hard to judge a combat system based on gameplay videos alone.

You can see the Xillia influence judging by their Break Soul because it varies between characters.
Magilou and Laphicet are Mages. Eleanor and Eizen are Magic Knights Velvet and Rokurou are Fighters.
