To me, its tied between Kurt and Radiant Wing One (Who is kind of Optional but I still consider it part of Vesperia's story), Kurt because of his cheap attacks and that one arte he uses that would kill one of my Party members instantly, he blocks attacks constantly and not to mention the AI in the game can mess up at times like when the healer he was to do NOTHING except for stand in the back and heal goes up and gets killed constantly and I'm wasting life bottles to revive them.
Radiant Winged One wasn't exactly required to do but if you get 7 Fell Arms and go through the cutscenes with Flynn, you'll unlock Duke's Third and Final Form and he is pretty hard, most of his attacks are the ones he used in his second form but the move he uses that pisses me off is when you get him down to 10,000-,25,000 HP and then he uses the attack "Brave Vesperia" which kills at least 1 or 2 party members (Wasting Life Bottles big time here as well) and gives him back 180,000 HP which was annoying.
Those were the 2 Tales bosses I think were the hardest and why I thought they were hard/annoying, what Bosses in the series do you think were annoying/hard?

Volt in Xillia 2? If we're talking no optional or cameo bosses, then I think Volt was definitely the one to give me the most trouble. Playing on the hardest available difficulty on NG, he made me retry more than any other boss I can think of. It's not that he himself is particularly hard, but it comes down to a combination of a few unfortunate circumstances:
1) The AI is too stupid to dodge his slam move, which is an instant-kill
2) His adds have a ton of health and he can spawn them pretty much infinitely
3) It's just too early in the game for you to have many options on how to approach the fight
4) It's also too early for you to have many moves to work up a good weakness combo
Actually, the constant theme is just that it's too early. I always tend to have trouble with the earlier bosses in games since you're always so limited in how you can approach them (Yukiko's boss in Persona 4 gives me the most trouble for this reason alone). Usually by about the 15-20% mark you have enough spells (or artes, in this case) that you can work out a successful arrangement. However, with Volt, it's mostly just putting up with his high damage, health, and adds while your AI allows themselves to get slaughtered time and time again.
At least, that's my (repeated) experience on harder difficulties.

I definitely agree on both X2 Volt & Kurt. Kurt being the shining example of regenerating mooks done wrong in that game, and Volt for being a late game boss shoehorned into the beginning of its sequel where you're not as well equipped in a normal playthrough.
And of course, the final boss of Xillia 1. If it weren't for the amount of skills that both bosses had, then it wouldn't have been so bad.

That fight in Vesperia where the enemy kept popping out of the ice and you were forced to use Karol sucked. More accurately, Karol sucks (to use, anyway, I don't mind him as a character).
I can't really think of any boss fights that were annoying, though. Dungeons, yes, Tales has plenty of those.

Sorry for the late reply, have not gone on here lately Lol, but that boss was annoying, I died a few times on that boss, Karol really does suck in combat, I dont hate him as a character but he's literally the worst to use in combat, especially on harder bosses
