I am the only one who didn't notice the apparently high encounter rate in the PSX version. No, you're not. I didn't feel the rates were particularly high in the PSX version. Even if they were, on the normal setting they go by relatively quickly a lot of the time so it's not a problem.

Judging from the screenies of the psp version all I can say is that they should've made the GBA version better graphically I'm sure the GBA can handle some more bits. I mean look at the FF I&II remake that was available on both GBA and PSP (their graphics were at par) just to add the only difference of the 2 is the added dungeon in FF I.

I've toyed around with the SNES, PSX and GBA version, and I can wholeheartedly say I prefer the PSX version. The improved graphics made the game look so much nicer and feel more open. I didn't notice a particularly high encounter rate in the PSX version, either... not that I'd mind considering I'm a bit of a grinder q:
I honestly don't care for SNES's version. It's primitive in just about every way, and I REALLY don't like DeJap's translation. Even if the script is funny, I don't like playing the game knowing the script isn't faithful at all to what the creators intended. Funny how a lot of people will rag about Namco's script changes, yet people seem to love DeJap's script.
Now is it just me, or was ToP GBA incredibly dull light-wise? I found it next to impossible to play on a regular GBA; I had to use a Gameboy SP with the light turned on in order to see what I was doing clearly. I have near-perfect eyesight, too :/

GBA version? *dhaos lasered*
Nah, i'd probably say PSX or PSP reason, I liked the PSP sprite design in prticular, and as for char design, Klarth(**** YOU CLAUS) is just epic.

I've only playe dthe GBA version, sadly so I can't have an oppinion here. I didn't know there was a PSP version. o.o I should acquire this. It'd be kinda neat if they remade Phantasia, it's so good I don't see why not.

>_< I've only played the GBA, but I'm sure the best version is PSX. XD I really wish they made the PSP version localized, D; But alas, stuck on the GBA. *Dies* It's haaaard. I feel like there's a huge delay between when I SAY to attack, and when they actually do. ;; I've died LOTS.

I know the feeling, i made the mistakes of running into the northern mountain range at level 1 and got pwned by the slow response and lack of manual control. I really want the PSP version, but once I figure out how to set up a PSX emulator, I'll patch the PSX version (and of course import so i can legally have the ROM)

I've only played two versions: SNES and GBA. I have the PSX version, but I have yet to touch it. I needs to acquire the PSP one.
I've had fun with the SNES version. I was only able to play the GBA version for about 30 minutes before I started to hate it. Something just didn't feel right to me.

Only I can't legally have the ROM unless i have the disk.

I really like the way battles look on the PSP... But I've only played the GBA version, so I guess that's what I'd think is best. However, the controls make it a little hard to fight if you're not used to a little lag...

I myself have played all but the PSP version
the SNES one is good for its time but compared the Remakes its UGH! the psx version and in my opinion the true Phantasia of them all is amazing and i loved it.
The GBA Versions ive played both english and japanese versions and well they are pretty good in my opinion besides the fact of the english versions HORRID voice acting >.> the battle theme sounds really cool and all in it.
In all honesty the psp version never really got me interested like the pic above me ^ those sprites im not to fond of as im so use to the chibiish ToD orginal ToP battle sprites which i love and so i may play it someday. but IMO PSX ToP is the True Phantasia <3 ^^
