Yep. That's it. The Suikoden Series. I know at least one other person plays this game, since his location was Budehuc Castle...
So, who else? And how did you get into this series?
For me, I was looking for a new game to play, and I was just browsing through the titles when the cover art caught my eye. It had a dragon on it, and I like dragons. So, I picked it up, tried to figure out how to pronounce the name, gave up, read the back and saw it was based on a Chinese legend. Hmm. Would you believe I put it back at first?
I kept looking, but something kept drawing me back. Maybe the name. Maybe the dragon. Maybe the legend. I don't know.
I bought it, played it, and immediately fell in love with it. I loved the story, loved the characters, loved the whole thing. In fact, as soon as I finished, I went on Konami's site and looked for news on a sequel.
Even then I knew.
And, so far, I have played I through V, but I haven't played the Gaidens or Rhapsodia or Tierkreis (the latter because I don't have the system), and although the games have their ups and downs, I have enjoyed each one immensely.

I was hoping someone would make a topic on Suikoden! I'm pretty new to the series as well. Currently, I'm playing the newest one, Tierkreiss(sp?). The only other game of the series I've played was Suikoden IV but that was a long time ago.

A new player. Good luck finding some of the earlier games. They can sell for hundreds of dollars.
Timeline-wise, though, starting with IV helps since it takes place 150 years before the events of the first game. If you ever get around to playing V, you'll enjoy some references to IV.

I probably wouldn't get the references as I said I haven't played IV in a long time, my memory is lacking. xD

Aaah. One of the first games I got for Playstation was Suikoden II. At first I didn't quite understand what's it about, and it kind of bored me. (Ssh, I was little >_>) After a while my classmate started playing that, so I gave it another go. That was an awesome experience. I loved it and I still find it a perfect game for me. After few years, I got the first Suikoden and played that as well. Then I played IV which was pretty fun, but it lacked that Suikoden feel the other games had. At last, few years ago I got III and V, which. The third one was really good, but the fifth in the series kind of disappointed me, since I expected more. I was really glad to see Killey again who was one of my favorite characters from II but it made me sad that he didn't have his awesome blades in V. Which reminds me, I haven't beat III and V. >_< I still have to beat final bosses. Ah.

I thought V was a perfect match for I and II. Although, I will admit....V is the only one where I actually try NOT to get everyone...I don't like Lyon.
And, it's nice to see Georg has a sense of humor. He was such a gloomy Gus in II.

Oh! I played V and have finished it (still didn't get all the 108 stars, though). I loved all the characters. they just gotten into me..grow on me. and that badass prince and his "twin"..
I am actually new to Tales of series...and RPG. my first fan-dom RPG was Suikoden V. (although I played pokeon when I was a little kid, but that's not included cuz I'm not so fandom-ing it)
and since 3 years from Suikoden V release, there haven't any news for the 6th installment..and i don't like tierkreis (they messed the plot) so while waiting I played all tales series my friend brought to me...and eventually fell into one of them--Vesperia.
still hoping for suikoden though..

I tried the DS one and I thought it was probably the easiest RPG ever so I easily got bored and started playing Innocence again. Didn't like Suikoden but I looked on a few forums and found out that there were many other better ones out there but I'm not too bothered.

Up until now, II is my favorite! I really loved how that went around. I liked it so much that I actually got the Suikogaiden games just to know more about Suiko II ♥

I've played a little of the first one, and Tactics.
Tactics isn't very good, though. Just a heads-up.

Suikoden II is my favourite game overall. <3 Really loved the characters and the story and it's one of the few games that made me cry. =')
I also played V and Tierkreis. After I played V for the first time, I stopped a few hours in because I couldn't bear the time it took to load. Then decided to play it again, defeated the final boss on my second try (I curse whoever thought that going through that "dungeon" without being able to save before you face the boss. Seriously.), got disappointed by the non-108 Stars ending and played it yet again for the true ending. In my opinion it's not better then II, but still very good. Haven't expected a lot from Tierkreis, but dear god the voice acting was horrible. Then tried it with the undub and started to like it more. Somehow, I liked the characters more with their japanese voice, it even felt like some of them had a totally different personality... <_< I still have to finish it, only 6 SoD left for the true ending.

There have been rumors that the final Suikoden would deal with Pesmerga and Yuber. So, it may be the past or the future. As long as they don't experiment with anything like they did with III. And, please, let them explain Jeane! (I have a theory, but it got poo-pooed elsewhere)

don't forget about Viki.
what makes me worried is they characters design is going downhill from Tierkreis... and rumor said they're going to change the turn based system to realtime RPG. (of course it's 85% impossible, but..nowadays, anything impossible turned out to be possible)

Realtime?
Will we be going back to four-man parties, as well? Less combos that way....

Hmmm.... Let's see. I've only played IV, which took me,(I'm serious) about over a year to beat!! I loved the game and found it to be one of my favorites games series (though I haven't played the others), and was so happy when I finally did beat it!! =__= That tree thing was so hard!! That's why it took me so long to beat. I got frustrated and stopped palying because of that stupid tree!! XD
Now why did I get it again?? Oh...it'll come back to me...
