:S
I honestly can't think of a good reason to buy these different newfangled versions of the DS unless you don't have one already. Truth be told, I basically never buy any "upgrade." Why upgrade what works well? My clunky, fat, old DS works like a charm :3
But even if I didn't have a DS, I wouldn't want a DSi. I like my backwards compatibility, kthnx. I'm still kinda peeved the DS can't play GBC and GB games...

Omg Nintendo. Really? Nintendo should be focusing on other things like...maybe making an actual "good" home console.
"we love the idea of buying a bigger version of a smaller version of a smaller version of an originally bulky handheld "
^ I lol'd at that.

It's be great if they made a Wii-ish console with a hard drive and better graphics instead of messing up the ds

-_- unless this does something spectacularly better than the DSi, what's the point. Hmm, I might get one only if: -GBA compatability again -N64 Shop downloads -More Multimedia ability -2 DS Slots (they actually had 2 on the prototype) -Price under $150 -Built in ability to capture gameplay -Hard drive -DS game downloads -Higher res camera with ability to capture video Thats a very tall order. . . Let me slim that down for you. -Add a buttload of features. -Lower price. That's a pretty tall order, yeah. And I'd say it makes you a jerk.

I think the tallness of the order was the point--he'd never get one, ever, no matter what they did for it. I mean, you honestly can't expect half those things to be implemented.

He could have said it quicker as "lol the new DSi sucks I'll never buy one Nintendo no matter what you do." Phrasing it the way he did is really jerkish.

NIntendo's DSi is still shifting units aplenty though. Hardware wise, their still leading both the console and hardware market. Though the DS is faring far better with getting good hardcore games, though like the wi, most of the popular series and new IP's were set for the first few years, but like the wii, there's nothing extremely amazing or impressive coming out in the year of 09.

Sorry if you took it that way, but I was serious about that. There's really no reason for me to buy another DSi if it has nothing new to it. On the topic of size, does anyone recall the Gameboy Micro? (If you don't, I don't blame you) I guessing the DSi LL/XL is going to go the same way

I don't know why anyone would want a handheld that small. It doesn't look comfortable to use.

It's actually really comfortable, though you wouldn't guess by looking at it, and it's the only handheld I own that really feels pocketable. I own a GB Micro. It's actually rather awesome. But I doubt that will apply to the new DSi.

I still think the micro was inferior (except for the fact that it had a proper headphone jack.)

I still think the micro was inferior (except for the fact that it had a proper headphone jack.) I own both, and I find the Micro better. In retrospect, the SP's backlight is even worse than, say, the Nomad's. But without halving the battery life of your six AA batteries. Useful, and just what the GBA needed, sure, but it's been outclassed hard by everything that came after it. In fact, the SP and the Micro don't even really rival each other. They're both slimming downs of the original GBA that go in different directions. The SP keeps the backwards compatibility, adds a flip-top and a backlight (a first for Nintendo handhelds), but changes the layout (The SP's controls are actually a little cramped for my gigantic hands, which is strange), while the Micro takes the original and slims it down to the barest components and gives it a backlight with a brightness feature that is adjustable at any time (Something even the DS and DS Lite lack).
