Gundam Wing was my all-time favorite show in elementary school. While mecha isn't the sort of anime I would watch nowadays, I still like Gundam Wing some. The music is epic, especially the instrumental (American) version of Just Communication.
Also, Relena was the second female fictional character I absolutely hated (the first being Princess Peach, whose obnoxious "Yeah, Peachy's got it!" still bugs me to this very day).

I always liked Duo best tbh. Unfortunately I can't stand his English voice actor... he makes Duo sound wayyyyy too old :/

It's been too long since I've seen it, but I do remember bits and pieces of it--especially the music.

Although it's not GW music per se, GW has some pretty interesting music for foreign openings. I personally love the Italian one:
and the Arabic one is hilarious:
The German opening is vocal, and not bad at that. I have to hand it to the Germans on that one considering it's really easy to adapt a song into another language and sound terrible.
I heard a Spanish version of Just Communication once, but I'm not sure if it was fandub or for real. I hope it was the former since it was horrible and made my ears bleed.

I am on the opposite end of most people on this one, actually. I hate Gundam Wing. I liked it when I saw it in middle school, but when I rewatched it, I found it less likable. But that's me. Your mileage may vary. I am less than fond of all the characters (Their young ages don't help much...)... Except for Zechs, who is a rather unique Char clone, surprisingly. Heero retains his spot as my least favorite Gundam hero ever (Tied with Kira Yamato). The music is all good though, and I have to say that Hajime Katoki's early designs for the mechs are dead sexy. Although his choices for the Endless Waltz redesigns are a little bit touched (Those wings on the Wing Zero always make me want to hit the guy. Sure, they look nice, but there's no point to them! Where's the functionality!? And don't tell me 'They're for reentry', because any Gundam worth its salt only needs a shield [Which Wing Zero should have, except the EW version lacks bird mode, thus omitting the shield] to survive reentry!) EDIT: On the subject on Endless Waltz... I remember the animation being top-notch. ...Also, I feel the need to correct you all on this: Endless Waltz is not a movie. It is a three-part OVA that was edited into one part for the English release (The exact same thing happened with Read or Die, actually). The more you know!

I completely agree with you. Yes. It seemed like they were just added for dramatic affect. XD I suppose I prefer the original Gundam designs because they were classic, but I liked the color scheme of them all more in Endless Waltz. You are correct about it not being a movie though, I watched it last night and was reminded of that on the DVD's menu XD
My favorite pilot is probably Trowa~ I really, really love how he's sort of angsty...and more dark? He has no name. That's just awesome. And his circus talent and stuff is just...<3 My favorite actual Gundam is Death Scythe though, for sure.
Mannnn, now I wanna break out my old Gundam models. >_< I used to build them when I was younger, D: I have TONS.

Why use wings when you can just use booster paks and junk to fly? And obviously the wings had to be made of Gundanium alloy, yet the wings shed and gave off what looked to be real feathers. Wtf.

WOW a gundam thread! I think the wings were to be used as a shield cause that's how it functions in the game, Gundam Battle Assault 2, if you guys are aware of it. I like Zechs and Trowa best in that gundam series. This one was truly a hit as it moved away from the usual newtype and Universal Century themes. I have to agree that this is one of the best unlike Turn A and G >,<

I like Zechs and Trowa best in that gundam series. This one was truly a hit as it moved away from the usual newtype and Universal Century themes. I have to agree that this is one of the best unlike Turn A and G >,< Actually, since G Gundam was the first AU Gundam, -it- was the one to move away from the UC themes... Although it did so in an outlandish and campy way (Not that I don't love G Gundam! It's no masterpiece of anime, but it's a fun watch!) (I also happen to be interested in Turn A, and am not one bit turned off by the outlandish designs >__>) The Battle Assault games were really good! Although, I found it silly that they stuck Shirow in a Ball... (Would have liked to have seen the Ez-8 in the game...) Although Shirow does manage to be completely awesome in it anyways. As for the wings, though... It doesn't make much sense to use them as a shield, because you have to give up the functionality of the rifle and saber (As well as the machine cannons, I think, which are in the chest instead of the head, but they're not very good against other mobile suits anyways...) while the wings are in front, especially since the Wing Zero already had a shield, which was integral to the bird mode (Thus, the EW custom completely omits the bird mode). As far as shield functionality goes, they're really not something you can use in a saber duel (If I recall, there were quite a few in Wing...). Moreover, because they function as the verniers, and they've shown to be quite fragile (If I remember EW correctly), then using them as a shield would actually reduce the Gundam's performance in a prolonged battle dramatically. (Not that the Wing Zero was ever designed with prolonged battle in mind, mind you) So, we can safely say that the wings were entirely an aesthetic design, perhaps made to show off the animator's talent in EW. But, if you want aesthetically pleasing wings... They should have just used Katoki's version of the Wing Gundam...Actually, the Wing Zero is a string of strange weaponry changes. The original Wing Zero had a secondary set of vulcans mounted in the wings. as well as having a 'piledriver' nose on its shield that could be used as a secondary weapon. The Wing, which was a derivative of the Wing Zero, omitted the wing vulcans for more standard head vulcans, but retained the machine cannons on the torso (The God Gundam from G Gundam has the same setup). The beam sabers on the Wing Zero were on the shoulders in the original, jumped to the wings in EW, and on the Wing they were in the shield? ......(If you give Hiro coffee and half an hour, he will write an essay on any giant robot show- even one he dislikes)
