Ah---the picture comes up as "Forbidden!" Try another one. And what program do you use for graphics? I can help you if you use GIMP, but not otherwise.

No no no, I love it! Thank you, I'll use them both. Thanks. I'm currently obsessed with Mao if you haven't noticed.
And I'll take a look at them. Thanks ^^
EDIT: You don't use gimp right. Cause that design is pretty great. xD

GIMP can do great things! ....Can. Not like I can make it do great things. :E I used to know where a bunch of Tuts were, but I've misplaced them one and all. I you're familiar enough with the GIMP, you can follow most Photoshop tuts using a little modification. ^^ Just let me know what confuses you.

Gimp has WAY superior gradients. i think i could make the same sig in gimp, it'd just look a tad different. C4D's are magical things <3

Hm no offense, but im finding your friends tutorial rather hard to follow. I dont understand the smudging part. It just ends up looking like crap xD

The trick to smudging is to use a textured paintbrush and use short strokes. Also, check your stroke settings. Play around with them and see what works best for you.

So, you couldn't duplicate the image?

Awww---don't give up. How did you duplicate the image? Did you hit the "duplicate" button under the layers in the layers menu. If possible, put up a picture of what you're talking about so that we can help you out.

when you paste the render into your canvas, it should come up as a 'floating layer'. press the new layer button in the layers menu. then select the render's layer and press the duplicate layer button. then select the bottom render layer and smudge it outwards in the left and right directions. (i like using the brush that looks like / for that ;D)
After smudging the bottom layer, duplicate both your render layer and your smudged layer. take the duplicates and set them to Grain Merge on 20% opacity. (make sure that the Grain Merge layers are above the original layers)
So, uh. the layers should be like this:
Render (Grain Merge) Render Smudge (grain Merge) Smudge Background
did that help?
