The game had implemented an alternate path during the Luke & Asch rematch on Eldrant? Where instead of the player (Luke) winning, Asch wins the match instead? Do you think there should be an alternate ending, no change to the ending, or maintain the game's original intent with Luke winning?
I've put a bit of thought in this, and I honestly don't see the problem of including these stakes for the player if they lose with Luke. Besides, the two of them (for the most part) are similar in battle style, and it'd be a neat Easter Egg to have. However, because it was the player's fault for losing, I would really want this to be a "bad ending" path. I haven't thought of how it would be pan out yet, but that could be the ultimate guilt a player would feel after learning that they were supposed to win with Luke.
Your thoughts?

That'll be pretty neat! I love alternate/multiple endings!
There should be a bad, worst ending, normal, and good ending. Also some characters ending. One where you lose to Dist and Dist decides to steal the spotlight! Or one when you lose to Van, you get the Bad end (aka, the end of the world).
Anyway, on topic. If the player loses to Asch, I guess that means Asch takes control and goes to fight Van on his own. And wins somehow. And then he decides to take over the universe in the end! Mwuahahaaa!! *cough* That would be the Bad End 2.
Or one where Luke is left behind to take care of the knights while Asch leaves on ahead. Luke manages to survive and get out of that room. He makes his way to where the rest of the party is, but he's extremely wounded. In the end, he doesn't make it on time and collapses on his way. As he's laying there, he apologizes to everyone and himself for his uselessness and dies. Later, the party finds him, shock and tries to call him, but then there's no answer... I call that the "Worst End".
Tee~ hee.~ <3
Anyway, I like the idea of Bad Endings/Alternate Paths.

That be a freaking awesome idea, i wish there was something like that. ;_; i know Knights of Ratatosk had something like that, but i didn't really like it...These would be my ways:
Good Ending: Luke doesn't exactly defeat Asch, but Asch still gives up because he says its a stupid thing. He gives Luke the sword, but Luke stays. and fights alongside him, and the others are able to break the the wall/passage, and all of that stuff happens again, (except for the Asch dying) and then after they defeat Van, it's Happily Ever After.
Bad/Sad Ending: Up to the part were Asch dies, Luke feels different, like as he had been poisoned, and when he uses that 2nd Order Hyperresonance (I have no idea how on earth its spelled.) He feels more of that 'poison', they defeat Synch, and when its time to defeat Van, Van takes control of Luke's body, by stabbing him, and Luke's dead along with Asch, so pretty much, Van is still not able to kill everyone, he still dies. but Luke has no soul in him, he's like an original replica. Guy tries to go up to him, but instead he gets hurt, so basically Luke is how like Collet was after the Tower of Salvation (1st time), and they need Luke to make things better, but they don't know what to do. Even if they try to leave, he follows them, but they can't hurt him, well, without them dying to try. Jade tries to think of a plan, and pretty much they try to cast the Grand Hymn, he gets his senses back, but just for a moment, and...he kills everyone (though, you gotta play as him!) and that's when he gets true senses, of what bad he has done. so he still does the process where he meets Lorelei, and Lorelei asks him what he wishes and responds: Kill me now...I can't stand being in this world. Please, just kill me, send my friends to where they belong, i need no grave. So...that's basically something i'd probably like.

Except for the part where Luke dies because his body falls apart, that's pretty saccharine. Also your bad ending didn't really make any sense from a logical progression standpoint. So you like things that are either too sugary-sweet or too morbid and mopey?

As much as I love alternate endings, I don't think it would work well with Abyss. The whole story focuses on Luke's growth, and overcoming Asch is an important part of it. Of course, it would be nice to get Asch back, but it wouldn't make sense in the story.

I am sooooooooooooooooo late to the party here. Oh well, love the 3D.
I could see it being done if it were a Bioware-style thing where you're able to plant those seeds early on, and the more you meddle the more the character interactions change. And it's not like Namco/Bandai's against the idea either, as we've seen in Tales of Symphonia.
I have to admit... at the beginning I thought Asch and Luke were very similar and was expecting a Symphonia 2 sort of thing, but in the end the differences were glaringly obvious. Luke had grown and matured into someone sacrificial rather than just merely suicidal. On the other hand Asch had waited until his final fight to merely lighten up. *sigh* Too bad, he seemed like a nice enough guy initially.
