For me, the song I always liked best in the Tales games was Mirrors. I really like all of the variations of Karma, but Mirrors always played at the soft, tender scenes, and it just fit well.
I also like a lot of Legendia's music in general.
As for the music I can't stand... oh, boy. For starters, I don't like Motoi Sakuraba's work at all. But. But. But. THE DRAGON BUSTER MUSIC. So awful. Such an annoyingly cheerful, bland piece of music that LOOPED. I'm not sure what was worse--that such cheery music was put to a minigame I failed miserably at (I had to play for hours before I won), or that it looped. Forever. And ever. I know all songs loop, but that song was incredibly repetitive to begin with.

Motoi Sakuraba didn't do any of the Dragon Buster music in Abyss.

You have to put the Dragon Buster theme in the Dragon Buster minigame. It'd be like having a Dragon Quest game without the prelude. But, you know, Dragon Buster's theme wasn't even Sakuraba.
The worst music is Port Capua Torim. Worst thing ever.
The best music is, I don't know. Like.
I like a couple of the oh-so-typical Sakuraba battle themes, but so many of them are bogged down in his hatred for all things Tales, such that he just flays Golden Sun battle themes and drops their whipped carcasses off at the studio.
Take Up the Cross and Who is Good or Evil? were both pretty great, but I think perhaps Sakuraba's work in the series would improve if the fandom would stop wanking overcrappy imitations of them. Or maybe he should just stop accepting the f**king jobs.
Everything by Fujiwara in Abyss is great. Mirrors is just lovely, and everyone loves Meaning of Birth. Overall, though, Abyss was surprisingly solid.
From a brief listen to the Xillia battle themes, sounds like it's got Sakuraba doing some pretty guitar-heavy stuff that sounds good, as opposed to dissonant synthesizer nonsense like usual. That's a step in the right direction, I suppose.

I can't really count the music I like there are just dozens of them...
there is Fury Sparks which is my favorite....Daring Sword, the Final Showdown,Crimson Pride & many many ^^
as for those I hate....there are only a selected few like the theme of Malkouth or theme of Zaude which I didn't bother remembering the names of both -_-

Tales of Innocence's OST is my favourite, although Motoi Sakuraba didn't compose it. I also quite like most of the battle themes and last dungeon themes in every Tales. But almost all of the town themes are awfully annoying. Especially the newer ones. I can't stand them.

I actually like Legendia's soundtrack the most overall. I really like Hotarubi (English version) by Donna Burke.
Though I do like some songs from the other games.

I never posted here?! OKAY STRAIGHT OFF THE BAT: Basically, all the Team Symphonia/Vesperia group games has the best music, to me. And so does Legendia, along with Xillia's and Graces. I think RM series is sort of awfull... Oh yes, one theme I SERIOUSLY hate: That one Labratory in Tales of Graces, OMFG ITS F*CKING ANNOYING.

Oh yes, one theme I SERIOUSLY hate: That one Labratory in Tales of Graces, OMFG ITS F*CKING ANNOYING. There's 4 different laboratories, counting Bathus Citadel... Legendia has the best Tales OST in my opinion. Vesperia is alright, though a lot of it is pretty forgettable. Graces is even more forgettable, the Zhonecage music literally gives me a headache after too long. But yeah, I second Hotarubi by Donna Burke. Sweet jesus that's a great song.

Of the Tales, games the music of TotA and Symphonia have always stuck with me. The music is compelling to me on many levels.
Can't say there is any game that I think has the worst music in the Tales series. This, of course, is coming from someone who is a big fan of Sakuraba, who has a part in most of the games' music.

Have you ever played a game (non-Tales) where you absolutely hated the music, Umbra? You talk a lot about the music you do like, so I'm just curious what kind of music you don't like.
I feel like most of the games I've played in general have rather unremarkable music. It's rare for me to really notice a game's music; it has to either be really good or really bad to make an impression.

Okay, I never said which I dislike.
Well, I'm not really fond of the underground place or whatever its called in Abyss. Its eerily sounding, creepy, and makes me just want to get the hell out of that place fast! Oh, and I usually have the lights turned on when I have to go through that dungeon...
