Does anyone have a preference?
I strongly prefer male voices. I just don't really find female voices aesthetically pleasing. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I like low musical sounds more in general, idk. I have about 34 different artists on my iTunes, and of them, only 3 are female singers (none of whom I listen to often).

I would've said, "Why don't you put both?", but then that defeats the purpose of the poll. However, most song that I have are by GIRLS, i do prefer guys. (I'm starting to finally get songs by guys...or, at least, covered by men.) Like say Vocaloid, most of the songs NOW that I have are by Kaito or Gakupo, but mostly Kaito. (I would say Len, but he's voiced by a girl, so eh.) I do love a girls voice, though sometimes it is awesome when some girls make their voice sound like a guy. I'm finally transitioning from women to men singers. Dammit now I want my vote back to women because I love their singing too. (depends)

I like both male and female singers, but out of all of the music I listen to, most are male singers.
It depends on the genre of music for me, though. For rock and metal, I generally prefer a male voice (with a few exceptions), but for jazz, pop, and classical, I prefer the female voice.

My song collection is pretty balanced though if I look at the songs I listen to more frequently it very clearly tips over to the male singer side. Like Umbra, though, the whole preference per genre thing is also present and since I more overwhelmingly listen to rock than most other genres that explains a good bit of the skew on my part.

Lately, I started to listen to more male vocals than girls. But, overall, its pretty balanced in my song folder. I don't really have a preference for whether I prefer males over females. I just listen to whatever sounds nice to me. But I'm not too big on cutesy pop stuff even tho I do listen to it on occasion...

I have about 34 different artists on my iTunes, and of them, only 3 are female singers (none of whom I listen to often). I'm thinking your preference may be related to the tone quality (timbre) of the male voice as opposed to that of the female voice. The female voice, generally speaking, tends to have a softer, lighter, and more emotion-filled timbre. There are exceptions of course, but 90% of females singers I hear fit this description. The male voice seems to be more variable and versatile, imo. On one end, it can be the nastiest, roughest thing you've ever heard; but on the other end, it can compete against the female voice as the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. The range of the male voice is also an example of its versatility. It can go from being so low that its almost inaudible to so high that you might hesitate to call it a male voice. Whereas the female voice is generally stuck in a higher register, with the exception of the contra-alto (lowest female voice), but that's very rare.

Mm, yes, I think you've hit the nail on the head there. It's not necessarily that I always dislike female voices, but I certainly get tired of them very quickly because, to me, they often sound the same. I genuinely can't tell the difference between Avril Lavigne's voice and Michelle Branch's voice, for instance.

either is fine by me....depends on the talent
I really must say some singers males or females are worse than Donald Duck!!!!
like Justen Beiber & Lady Gaga for example!!!!

I think those singers are actually quite fine. Justin Bieber's music isn't my cup of tea, but he's definitely talented. He really doesn't deserve the hate people heap on him. And Lady GaGa? Fine by me. I actually rather like her music. I think she's better than Madonna, who she's often compared to.

I agree. He's just a kid who's living his dream. All the hate bashing is pretty ridiculous and childish. Especially from those who are like older than he is.

I think the people who hate Bieber to death are more upset with how much media attention he gets rather than his actual singing. Though I know it is no surprise why he gets all the attention the way the media shapes him, I don't think his music deserves as much attention as it does. Then again, I have the same opinion for pop music in general, but that's for another time.
