...but I couldn't think of anything.
Anyway, it's obvious enough, but I'm new here!
I am an avid fan of video games, (I want to make my own someday) particularly if they have fun gameplay and interesting stories and characters.
Recently, I found that the Tales series has all three of these things.
Although I rented Tales of Symphonia years ago, I never made it far, so my introduction to the series proper would be Tales of the Abyss. (The 3DS port; I live in a mainly-Nintendo household and plus, the 3DS port has no bothersome split-disc hassle and is portable)
I found that, by the end of the game, I liked all nine members of the main cast, (7 playable characters + Ion and Mieu), and I was rather saddened that my beloved nine-man band was rendered incomplete by the end of the game.
In addition to the heroes, I thought the villains were cool as well; each of them (except Mohs, who was just a jerkass) managed to make me feel at least sort of sad by the end for one reason or the other, and having a main antagonist who isn't strictly evil is always nice.
Recently I ordered the GBA port of Tales of Phantasia, and it should be arriving within the next week, I think. I thought that it would be a good idea to play the first game, to help me appreciate the series more, before moving on to later titles. And, of course, the fact that I love the character design (li'l iffy on Arche's poofypants, but still) certainly didn't hurt either. Before it's brought up, I don't want to emulate so a translation patch is out of the question, and while playing in Japanese works if I've seen a Let's Play or if I'm so used to the series I don't even need the dialogue, with a text-heavy series like Tales I kind of need it to be in English or else I won't enjoy it nearly as much.
Um, anyway, wall of text aside, I hope I can get along here, and hopefully not be treated like a complete noob. Thanks for having me!
