Out of pure curiosity, what sort of laptop or desktop do people here use? Right now I'm on my Macbook because I had to hand in my Windows Laptop in at school because my Design and Technology project is on there. So basically I'm stuck using a Macbook. I personally am not a fan of Mac OS since it's not suited for games at all.

I use Windows.
My first laptop was a Mac because of school, and the three since then have been Windows. There's nothing wrong per se with Macs, but I would still take a Windows computer any day. Not being able to play games was a big problem for me when I owned a Mac in 2006-2008. There was literally nothing out for them then, and even if something did get released for the OS, it was always 4-6 months after it was released for Windows. I don't think that's probably as much of a problem nowadays because Macs are much more popular now, but I could be wrong.
Apple also didn't really win any points for me on its price, either. When my laptop's screen shattered, they wanted to charge me $800 just to replace it, even though the entire computer itself cost only $400 more. Yeah, no, at that price, I'll just buy a new laptop, thanks. In general, you can get a Windows computer with identical specs for several hundred dollars cheaper, and you can customize them to boot, so...
I recently got a free Mac desktop from work. I didn't really need the thing, but if someone offers you a free computer because they're clearing out the office, you'd be crazy not to take the offer. I'm trying to figure out some neat things I can do with it that I wouldn't be able to do on my laptop, but so far the only thing I can think of is Garageband right now.

This is basically Mac vs PC (99% Microsoft), right?
I've always used PCs running Windows, not because I wanted to entirely, but because of the huge price difference. PCs are great for their price (as already stated), customability (try overclocking a Mac), and ability to play hardware-demanding games and almost all games, in general. The PC is your gaming computer.
Macs, although I have never owned one, are more for professionals who want their computer ready for use on the purchase. And of course, they would use it most likely to run professionally used programs like Photoshop and ProTools, the latter program of which I know works best on a Mac. So whenever I think of a Mac, I think of a movie producer, game developer, or musician using it.
I cannot say which of these I prefer, though, because I have not actually used a Mac (though of course I want to). I think it depends, though. If gaming is your priority--PC. If you want to get some work done on high-demanding software--Mac (not saying this can't be done on a PC, though).

I personally am not a fan of Mac OS since it's not suited for games at all. I own a Macbook Pro that I got for school several years ago, but I haven't used OSX since maybe January 2011. BootCamp is a lifesaver! It's really a pretty good gaming machine when freed from the shackles of Mac compatibility.

I'm currently using Windows 7 and am not a huge fan of the OSX proprietary environment. A conundrum I've been running into recently is windows 8. Microsoft cut a deal with my university such that all the computers in my department now run windows 8, even though the tools and programs we need to use to do anything need to be messed with before they'll work smoothly. It's a major pain. I'm seriously considering jumping ship in the distant future after linux's gaming support increases.
In terms of the companies, I dislike them both, but apple just a little more. Everything from their branding to their environments to their ceos are egotistic. Microsoft on the other hand looks to be a disorganized mess with broken chains of command and an inability to see from the consumer's point of view.

Argh Windows 8. I never reacted so negatively about anything my bro plans to do than my bro wanting to change the OS of his sweetass gaming laptop to Windows 8 (when Windows 7 is working perfectly) just because he got it free, buying into all that hype and positive reviews from websites who are not only outside the gaming demographics, but also potentially being "encouraged" to give great reviews to Windows 8 almost as a form of advertising disguised as a review. I tinkered around with the Windows 8 OS and there's nothing there that interests me enough to switch to it. I also just saw people struggle with the interface and have trouble with the installation of some of the programs they used to use.
It's a good thing my bro stuck with Windows 7 - Newly released OS always has major problems that need fixing over the years whereas an older OS that's been around for years are likely to have most of its kinks already worked out.
As for Apple, the only good thing about the Mac is that it has a nice interface for digital artists. Otherwise, I don't need nor want a Mac, whose interface for file management just doesn't cut it for me, and that's enough for me to not want it.
