ACS (Act Cadenza Strife) Is a Fighter Maker 2000-based 2D Fighting game featuring characters from Tales games, created by japanese fan Anibache. The game features many things from Tales games like TP, OVL, Combo system (both arte chains and CC), Artes, Mystic artes/Blast calibers/Hi-Ougis.
The game has story mode with multiple difficulty levels and local (and online?) 1v1.

*Given to certain players personally by the creator, Anibache.

Creator has also made ACS3D, a 3D version of the game with a bit of character customization, and (s)he's currently developing ACSR, a remake of the original ACS with improved sprites.

There is a new one from Anibache called ACS R.
You have to look into Anibache's folder, though.

I remember you from the ACS discussion back in TSF. That profile picture is still damn creepy.
I downloaded the ACSR and It looks like Anibache used the old characters as a base (there are some glitches where you can see the ND sprites under the higher-quality ones). There was Dhaos. Cless, Shing, Klarth and Kohak but according to his/her log and my japanese skills google translate, (s)he's intending to add characters from newer tales like Ludger and Jude.

Anibache didn't want to release Flynn to public since it was originally given as a reward for some people for some reason. Someone made Flynn from scratch using the same sprites and it's essentially the same thing. I just have no idea where to get it (I used to have all the additional characters on my old computer about a year back). I can't remember how you are supposed to get Hubert either.

The balance is the biggest issue so I tend to use only Luke and Yuri since they are less-broken as the others.

You used to be fairly active in the official forums where I used to stalk people (I think I posted like twice). Or maybe I'm mistaking you for someone else. That profile picture is too familiar though.

Yea pretty much every character has some balance problems, but since I've yet to beat Alexei w/Yuri and just recently got around killing kakashi w/Luke so there is still challenges left in this game. I hope Ani will try to balance things a bit more in the R version.

I even typeset the translation of skills in ACS3D. How nostalgic.
I wonder how he rebalance the game in the R version, haha.

I remember this game. Was fun playing with other people, kind of boring playing it alone, unless you wanted to try your hand against the SNK bosses.

ACS3D was kind of clunky and unpolished in some regards, so it's kind of weird seeing the creator do both a remake of ACS and ACS3D.

I remember playing this game a lot a year or two ago. My sister used to spam A-artes with Sophie and I couldn't do much about it. Hopefully, we'll get some updates on ACSR. I'd like to see how it will be balanced.

I dunno if I still have Flynn (granted, the original Flynn was some event related thing). Bottom line, only certain people have him.

And Hubert was created by LionRyu. I should still have his mod and his command list somewhere on this PC. I have some other characters as well.

I used to play this game like a year ago and dropped it out of boredom mainly because I couldn't connect to anyone.
I loved using Cless, and Lion Magnus.

I played this game briefly last year. I believe it does have an online mode, but I haven't tried it. It's fun locally, though the game is unbalanced to heck. My friend played Asbel and infinite combo'd me (repeated A-arte strings into Lunar Requiem over and over).

...Would definitely be interested if this game can be balanced somehow. Has the guy working on the R version said anything about it recently? Do we know if Anibache is still working on it/has any potential release dates for this new version?

He's currently working on the R version, I believe the last update was around the end of last month. The R version is already available, though it's still fairly incomplete. Someone with proper japanese skills can try to translate what Anibache is saying in his blog. Google translate is pretty terrible for that.

Yo. So i have a history with this game xD

I have a lot of things to say about it, i guess... but can we just have a shoutout for how beautifully animated this game is? It's quite amazing. I think Anibache is an animator, not so much a designer, cause a lot of the game is... oddly designed.

3D had so much potential. Again it looks amazing and it doesn't play toooooo bad. Kinda slow but eh. It was dropped due to bugs though, so that's shame.

I think R looks like garbage right now, but at least there's a guard meter. I... think. idk give it time.

I'd like to see a full fledged, full budget Tales of fighter though. This game is interesting but it has a lot of inherent problems that prevent it from being a good, balanced fighter, in my opinion. It would need to be reworked from the ground up.

Gonna toot my own horn and say I modded this game. Made it more balanced, more fluid. I remember playing this game a while back. I had a ton of fun with it. I heard about the creator discontinuing it, but that he was working on another game called ACS R. Does anyone know about the progress on that? I know the creator has a twitter, but I can't read Japanese.
