Nobody ever made you "deal" with the character quests, Senea.

@ Hiro: That's true but to get the real ending you had to go through them. I still finished it and it was fun, it just wasn't the greatest way of finishing a game in my opinion.

Final Fanasy XII - It looked really good but the plot points happened every five hour I find so I never remember what's going on or why I'm even in this dugeon That's the thing I hate about this game. That, and the battle system. It isn't turn-based but it is not an action RPG either, so i die really fast.

I don't know, I would have preferred that they cut out the "Main Quest," since the Character Quests are the real meat of the game and the Main Quest really serves only to introduce the characters. Also, I don't really remember FFXII being hyped up, and it seems to have been cast aside by the fandom. Which is fine, because I just picked it up and am actually enjoying it.

Truthfully, the story could have been done better if the Character Quest wasn't "Character Development Exposition." Instead of being integrated to the actual quest nicely, they tacked it onto the last part of the game and pretty much comes out like I described it (awful exposition). Doesn't help that they make you go through the same dungeons again. I always wonder why the character quest was able to be considered horrible and it took me three years to figure it out. I'm just saying. As for Final Fantasy XII...well, fans probably don't want to admit that Final Fantasy is a series that has been about, "Changing whenever we damn well feel like it", even despite having a good formula going that can be used for a few more sequels. What I played back then wasn't bad, though.

Final Fantasy XIII is shaping up as this... Based on the opinions I keep hearing from those who already have it... I wonder If is should get it...

I'm getting it because it's Final Fantasy and I don't care. The battle system looked interesting to me and I grew up with that. I've been playing the games since I was four.
Anyway, on topic, umm... I can't think of any popularly hyped or niche hyped, for lack of a better phrase, games I've played lately. Mostly just been BlazBlue and SF4 in the little spare time I've had. Stupid links. I keep chaining them.

I'm curious. I know nothing about FFXIII, sooo... are they sticking with the action-like system, or is it back to turn-based?
I didn't get very far in FFXII (only a few hours in) and hadn't the foggiest idea what I was doing when I was battling, but, even so, I liked its battle system better than FF's old system. Traditional turn-based really just doesn't do anything for me regardless of the game (though oddly enough, I do like strategy turn-based games).

I think it's turn based, but the thing I like is the way attacking is done.

You know what's an overhyped game? SFC Tales of Phantasia. Definitely not the best RPG on the system, much as I love it.

That game is hyped? I liked Star Ocean better than that considering they have similar battle systems. I mean, Ratix is freaking hilarious in that game, but still.

It is. A lot of people praise it as "The best SNES RPG" and so on.
I wasn't particularly fond of Star Ocean, though.

Yeah, it was pretty rushed, but whatever. I just like calling SFC Phantasia Tales of Star Ocean. I think a lot of people were enamored with the DeJap translation.
Tri-Ace didn't really get into the swing of things until the PSX anyway.

I couldn't answer that question for you, seeing as I don't understand either.
The game's fun for maybe 3 days. Then it gets old.
