I, personally, much prefer Vesperia. Symphonia is possibly my second or third favorite, (debating between that and Legendia), but Vesperia is the definite first.
okey the concept of blastia and aer are almost if not the same as mana and the exspheres.
But the diference between those two is that the exspheres have a darker origin than blastia thats a point for symphonia IMO.
well to me both OST sucked a lot of course there were some exeptions but in general to my tastes ToS and ToV fail at the Ost.
Tarqaron it is a good final dungeon its better than derris kharlan so i wont argue on that.
well yuri is ok againts lloyd who doesn't have a defined personality
flynn...it can only be compared to i dont know kratos...but kratos at least makes more sense than flynn i mean a random duel only because they want? i was expecting something more heartbreaking or at least a true rivality.
how can you cry when you fight raven even when he doesnt die and dont mention zelos your partner and friend who hides his emotions whit his goffy and pervert trait and you will kill him and he will really die and would not apear magicaly just because he use a speedo!!!
Judith and sheena are both equal both are there to watch for costeliise(collete, estellise)and they end up taging along for no good or valid reason!!
Repede is awesome <3 but his moveset sucked touh i mained him XD
karol in fact was the character with more development and he is an ok to vesperia in comparision to presea who doesnt growt like karol
lol regal would be comparable to repede but obviously regal is the worst filler in the tales history
genis and rita are awesome but rita doesn't struggle against her race and doesn't try to prove that she isn't a child anymore in that aspect rita is far from genis
also collete and estellise suck as a character both of them are cliche
and raine pwns patty only because her relical mode
see ToS have good characters too.
well vesperia pwns in villian department but symphonia have its deep villians too like the daugther of Dorr well its more like the conflict of dorr and her
THE DUEL WITH KRATOS and zelos both things are heartbreaking more than a figth with some villian that says ja milord'
and between final bosses mithos made more sense than lolcrazy duke.
emm...it started as a non cliche plot But ended as a BIG CLICHE PLOT
Honestly I think the entire concept of blastia and aer is just fascinating. The cities are also very interesting, and I absolutely love the Empire-Guild dynamics. The guilds themselves are awesome as well. Vesperia has unexpected, complex and difficult dungeons, but they're all enjoyable to some degree.

Vesperia's OST is more enjoyable to me, though I doubt a lot of people will agree, more of the songs just stick with me and make the moments.

Tarqaron. I loved Tarqaron to pieces, and I think its length was appropriate. When I got to the end of Tarqaron, before those giant stairs, I felt like I had really worked for something, accomplished something. Did I have the same feeling before I fought Mithos, as I did when I was finally about to fight Duke? No. Not at all.
Tarqaron it is a good final dungeon its better than derris kharlan so i wont argue on that.
Then there's the characters. Yuri is by far the most original Tales hero, I would say. He's realistic. I can relate to Yuri, his frustration with Flynn, his guilt, his sense of inferiority, confusion... it's all very tangible and real. I don't agree that Yuri has little to no character development, I think his is just hidden in the sub-text, rather than in your face. I love Estelle, as well. I actually love her for the same reason I love Colette, they're both willing to die for people. Repede, in my opinion, is an awesome addition to the party. His silent support for Yuri was really heartwarming to me, as I used to have a dog myself, and I know how comforting they can be. Karol is wonderful to me, the fact that he basically has his own battle just to mature, to learn to protect... it terrified me, fighting alone, but I wanted to win so badly, for Karol's honor, really. It was a big motivator, I felt really proud of myself and him after I won. Rita is my favorite of the cast, I admire her intelligence and determination a lot. I think she's pretty amazing. Rita is, essentially, the person who really saves the world, it's all thanks to her. Her personal journey, as well, learning how to care and interact with people, I found very engaging to watch. I felt terrible for her, but I was really happy when she accepted that Brave Vesperia's members were friends to her. Raven impresses the hell out of me, that he can be that strong, play both sides, all of that... and I have never cried as hard because of a boss battle before the Schwann fight. I was bawling. I cry every time, actually. I was frustrated the entire game with Judith, until I learned why she was doing what she was, and then I gained a lot of respect for her strength. Even more so when you do the sidequest to discover her personal involvement.

Vesperia is the only video game I've played to date (and trust me there's a lot) that I can honestly say I love the entire cast. I adore Zagi, and I feel so horrid for him. I cried a bit in Tarqaron when you fight him, as well. I sobbed my eyes out for the Yeager battle, and I cried when I did the sidequest to fight Gauche and Droite, because I felt so terrible that I had taken Yeager from them. I respect Duke a lot for his actions, and I was really thankful throughout the game that he kept saving me! Alexei doesn't have anything admirable about him, really, but I love him for his utter evilness. Cumore... I don't need to explain that. I'll even admit to caring about Flynn, though he still annoys the hell out of me.

Vesperia just touched me personally a lot more than Symphonia did. I felt like a member of Brave Vesperia, and because Vesperia's plot wasn't a very cliche, save-the-world one, I felt like I had actually accomplished something in the end, rather than, "oh, I beat another RPG by saving the world! Yay!" Symphonia disappointed me, in that respect. Vesperia didn't.

Kudos to anyone who reads that all, really.
